Chance me please for UCF

-___- so lets start with I'm the common slacker who regrets it all now :( but i am gonna run my stats and hopefully you guys can give me some good colleges I could try to apply to I would be so grateful. GPA uw: 2.8 :( GPA w: 4.0 sat: 1790 CR+M is 1250 act:27 i am gonna retake both hopefully do better and top 40%. I am first generation and Haitian with a single mom. I have been getting letters from colleges but I doubt they mean anything so any suggestions would be appreciated and I live in Florida so I qualify for bright futures.

Buuuuuuummmmmmmp :(

Your ACT is good (idk about SAT, we don’t do that where I went to high school). Your GPA on the other hand is not so good. You could try going to a community college first, and then you can get automatic admission into a 4 year after about 2 years. You might be able to get into UCF, but I’m not sure. It would probably depend on your EC and stuff like that.

Vinster- I think I remember reading that you are out of state? Your answer is completely inaccurate for a Florida resident. Community college is not necessary for the OP if his weighted GPA is 4.0.

So, I am going to answer the OP’s questions assuming he is instate and the 4.0 he quotes is his recalculated Florida university system GPA. He is very much a good candidate for UCF and will likely gain admission.

OP- did you double-check the requirements for Bright Futures? I know they keep raising the bar every year.

Good Luck!

Well, I was only trying to say that if you do not get in to the school, CC is always a for sure route. I do not know what UCF likes for GPA, but I would expect a 2.8 unweighted to be rather bad.

The point is- they are not going to look at his unweighted- just the weighted GPA for core classes. For Florida residents admitted for Fall of 2012, the 25th percentile - 75th percentile GPA’s were 3.5-4.2. The OP’s WEIGHTED GPA falls within that range.

The standards for him as a Florida resident will be different than they were for you as an OOS applicant.
