Hi I wanted to know my chances UCSB, and other UC's with these grades, scores, etc.
9-12 gpa weighted: 4.13
non-weighted 3.91
10-12 weighted: 4.27
non weighted: 3.9
200+ hours of community service
Clubs: avid club , environmental club, California scholarship federation ( most likely will get lifetime membership), and LINK CREW
Sat score: 1640
I took 6 ap classes, including the ones I am currently taking this year and 2 honors and on the AP US History test i got a 4
Cali resident, rank 12 out of 571, and I most likely will get valedictorian status.

Also, I want to apply for chemical engineering and was wondering if I should take sat subject tests or keep trying to get a better sat score. Another thing I wanted to add was that I hope to have solid essays because I plan to write about how I overcame my medical condition, Crohns disease, and did well in school, etc.

I did, and i got a 24. Although, i like the sat better, but English always gets me killed, i got a 650 on math, 500 on reading, and 490 on writing. I am taking the sat again next Saturday though.

Since UC’s are based mainly on your GPA and tests cores, I’ll try to chance you as best I can.
UCSB and UCSD - Low reach
Berkeley and ucla - reach
UCI - high match

Thank you for the replies, also are there any other good schools for chemical engineering in California that I could get into, or should I just go for ucsb, which is one of my top choices.

Your GPA is great but unless you can get your SAT up, I think the top UC’s are all reaches: UCB, UCSB, UCSD, UCD, UCLA, UCI. You will qualify for guaranteed acceptance into a UC based on you class position, but with your SAT scores I think you will be deferred to UCSC, UCM, or UCR. Let us know how you do on the SAT!

Wow, I didn’t know that sat was weighted that much, I will definitely try to get a better score, and I could take the December sat also, correct?

For 2012, the average GPA for admitted freshmen was 4.07 with a mean SAT score of 1922 I would try to up your score to around 1950 to have a good shot at UCSB. And yes, you can take the SAT until Dec.
