I’m kind of new to college confidential, so I’m kind of nervous since this is my first post and all. But basically I’m a rising senior in a relatively competitive New Jersey high school, and I really want to get into a nursing school. The worst thing (I think) about applying to nursing is that it’s generally harder to apply basically anywhere because the competitiveness is really intense and pretty much everyone who applies is qualified. (Then again, it’s most likely the same for engineering, business, pre-med, etc.) Okay I’m rambling, haha…
Here are my stats:
Intended Major: Nursing (with a possible minor in dance or theater)
Ethnicity: Asian (Filipino) Female
ACT (Superscore): Math: 31 Reading: 34 English: 35 Science: 36, Overall Superscored Composite: 34 (Highest Reg. Composite: 33)
Unweighted GPA: 3.90
Weighted GPA: 3.94
AP Classes: Physics 1 (3) this is what I’m really worried about
(next year I plan on taking more AP’s like Bio, Stat, and Psych)
Extracurriculars:
– co-founder and co-president of the dance club
– member of the future physicians and nurses club and filipino club
– member of tri-m and english honor societies
– volunteered 50+ (and counting) hours at hospital
– shadowed a physical therapist
– part of the advanced leadership program at my school
– assistant teacher of dance classes at my studio
– volunteer camp worker for kids w/ special needs
– various scholarship winner in dance competitions
– lead parts in the school musical
(in addition, I dance for almost 20 hours a week. For those who say dance isn’t a sport, we need to have a little chat.)
So the schools I’m looking at are Case Western, UPitt, Rutgers, TCNJ, Johns Hopkins, Villanova, UNC, Drexel, NYU, and UPenn & Duke (for the heck of it). If anyone knows any other nursing schools that would be a match for me, that’d be really helpful. Also if anyone needs more info I’m happy to give it. Thanks!
(also crying bc i really want the new season of game of thrones to come out)
