Stats for Me:

4 years of Math, Science, History, English
I transferred to a new school with AP's (old school didn't) and I've taken AP English, Government (only things they offer and gotten a 98% in both classes)
I've gotten 4's in both AP Tests, 5 in World History, and 4 in Latin

I'm dual enrolled at a local college and taking German (at a 200 level) and Latin (at a 300 level)

EC:
Piano (I used to take it up until this year now I teach it)
Choir (went to states :)
Newspaper
Yearbook
Volunteer Tutor
Mock Trial
I'm an amputee and I do track and field somewhat competitively (I've qualified for Nationals) but I don't do school sports.

First Gen college student
From a working class family/neighborhood

I would rank top 10 in my class but since I transferred this year I'm number 11 out of 125

Do you think I'd get into- U of M, Colgate, or Williams.
I know my ACT score is lower than their median but I was hoping my GPA and extra curricular activities would even it out a bit.

I'll be honest Williams is my dream college (I personally don't think I'll get in but it's everything I want in a college- coupled with being way too far away from me) so I thought I'd ask at the very least.

Any help would be awesome :) ???

On your other thread, you say your parents earn $75,000 a year but won’t even complete a FAFSA with you. How would you find any of these colleges IF you got accepted?

U of M is in Ann Arbor- and I’ve been there dozens of times. I have a laptop (since I’m typing on it) so I am able to find directions or use a GPS to get directions to the schools. and I do have a car (it’s older but it does work I have some money saved for college from giving piano lessons and working in my town so I know it’s not impossible for me to GET there if I get in. I just couldn’t afford to visit for an interview or to tour campus (but I have looked at videos of the school on youtube and seen pictures so I have some idea of what they look like)

FUND…not find…typo.

Let’s try again. How would you FUND any of these colleges. Your other thread is clear. Your parents won’t help you.

U of M offers to meet in state students full need (on their website) as long as their apply on time, apply for scholarships, and financial aid. As for Colgate and Williams I don’t expect to get in (especially Williams) but Williams meets 100% of need (collegedata) with an average student debt (upon graduation) of 12K- which I can pay. Colgate is the same as far as 100% need met.

Pros:

Con:

27 isn’t bad per se, but if you were to get it up to, say, 29 or 30… I think your chances at Mich would be pretty solid.

Your as-is chances are probably about 40-60% – match range.

But just because your parents say they won’t help you doesn’t mean the schools won’t EXPECT them to contribute. So the schools won’t think your need is that high!

You still need to submit FAFSA and CSS profile to get aid from UMich.
As for your chance, you ACT is indeed low for UMich that not only lower than the median, but significantly lower than the 25th percentile at 30. Your GPA is above average and your course rigor is fine. So your only weakness is your ACT score. You should thoroughly prepare and then retake the test. Aim for 30+ for a decent chance. Right now UMich would be a low reach even for in state unless you have a hook.
