You have good stats…ha very similar to mine
Wash U. really cares about what you write about in your personal statement. THeir application is rather simple, so that is where you have to shine. Also, your extracurriculars are good, but colleges are not really looking for “well rounded” students anymore. They want to see students who have worked hard and achieved by focusing on certain, specific areas. I see that you have been doing the musical a lot. Maybe that is something you might want to highlight… perhaps even send in an arts supplement. Your grades and class placing are great. I have a friend who got into Emory, she didn’t have great grades but she had amazing extracurriculars… Just make sure to bring out passion, focus, and drive in your applications and you’ll do fine.

You’ve got great scores and a nice GPA. I’d say you should have a fair chance at most of those colleges (no guarantees though, admissions can be pretty random). You’re EC’s are nice. The only suggestion I have is to try and create a “theme” with your application. Looking at your classes and EC’s, it seems like you have a lot of interests and activities. I would find a way to emphasize the ones that you will be persuing in colleges, by listing those activities first on your transcript and metnioning them in your essay. Do that and you should have a great chance.
P.S. if you would chance me back, that would be great.

thanks guys

pyroqueen i’ll chance you back but idk how to get to your thread :frowning:

also i’m thinking of the honors program at Maryland

I think Emory, Cornell, WashU, and Hopkins are reaches, but you have good chances at all the other schools. Your EC’s are good, but I don’t see anything extraordinary or any passion. The SAT score is good, but maybe raise it to 2200+? Idkk tho.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1126159-chance-me-ivy-league.html</a></p>

i think you might want to not list certain activities that were only carried out for one year. elite colleges care more about activities to which you were dedicated over a long period of time; your ecs also seem scattered, meaning there is no one area where you seem dedicated… if you present the information in a different way im sure you could seperate it into 1. music activities, 2. sports… from there there isnt a clear area of activity. id probably say that Emory, WashU, Cornell, and Hopkins are all high reaches. Lehigh maybe just a reach/low reach
IN at College of New Jersey, Rochester, and U of Delaware

Volunteer work might help.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1127050-nrotc-scholarship.html</a></p>

^ volunteer work might look good. here are my thoughts:
emory- high reach. need something that makes you stand out
washington u- very high reach. same as above, higher SATs scores
cornell- see above
Lehigh- i’d say a low reach. you have a better chance of getting in and i think you will
TCNJ- match
I don’t know about Rochester
John Hopkins- high reach. same as washU
University of Delaware (honors college)- i think you have a shot at that. you’ll def be in the regular school if you apply.

I’d try and get up your test scores a bit 2200/33, but as of now I’d classify JHop, Cornell, and WashU as reaches, Leigh and Emory as matches and then Rutgers UofR and UofD as safeties

Please chance be back (like you promised ahaha)
