Just finished my junior year. I am from Ohio, and I will be applying to these schools, and I’ll list the specific major if it impacts the admission (ex. applying to engineering at UT Austin vs another major)
UT Austin (It’s my dream school, I’ll be applying to Sport Management in College of Education, which I’ve heard is easier to get into then a lot of other majors)
UMichigan (Kinesiology-Sport Management)
UNC-Chapel Hill (I know my chances are slim, I would love to go here, but I know I probably won’t get in, I’ll take my chances)
Indiana University (Kelley+Honors Direct Admit)
U of Cincinnati (Safety)
Tulane-Parents and my mom’s parents went there so a good legacy
Rice
Just to add, my friend got into UT Austin this year with a 30 and a 4.12 to the neuroscience major, which is sort of competitive, and we’re OOS
Stats:
GPA: UW-3.821, W-4.058. Upward trend (Got a 4.283 this year first sem. and 4.45 second sem., 3.95 UW both semesters)
ACT: 33
8 APs by the end of senior year, got a 3 on APUSH, which I took sophomore year
School doesn’t rank, relatively small (class of 130 or so) public school very highly ranked in the state and nationally, very competitive.
ECs:
Sports Editor of School Newspaper (3 years)
I worked every day after school during junior year for an hour at a software engineering firm doing maintenance (dishes, trash, cleaning, and other random stuff)
NHS
Over 100 Community Service Hours
Business Club (President Senior Year)
Stock Club
Israeli Culture Club
Working this summer at the grounds crew for my school district (weed wacking, lining fields, cleaning up trash, etc.)
Marketing Program Senior Year (It’s selective based off an interview and other things, and a very accredited program for college credit)
3 years of HS Golf, 1 of Basketball, 1 of Soccer
Did a Sport Management Pre College Program at UT Austin this past summer, doing one at Syracuse this summer.
I will have great essays hopefully (I’m gonna do them over the summer and get a lot of feedback and edit a lot.)
Probably pretty good letters of rec-2 teachers who love me, guidance counselor should be decent, and a UT professor in sport management for only the UT app obviously
I don’t know what my family income is exactly, it’s for sure above $100k, but my parents can afford all of these schools, so I won’t be asking for a ton of financial aid, and UT probably won’t give me any.
My essays should be pretty good, I have already started some, and will work with parents, guidance counselor and a former admissions counselor at WashU to perfect them.
Thank you!!
