Chance me Please!!!...I WILL chance you back.

I want to transfer to Texas A&M University Department of Engineering Technology, and major in Mechanical Engineering Technology.....here are the specs......

1) Im a transfer student from a small State University in Texas.
2) Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom
3) First child in my entire family to attend college.
4) Didn't do to well my first semester in college, went on a deployment with my reserve
unit and came back to maintain Dean's List 3 semesters in a row.
5) I rose to top 15% of full time majors in the college of Math and Science ( thats out of about 1000 students).
6) Have a GPA of 3.123 at my current University....However, due to the first bad semester I had, A&M is going to average everything so it comes down to a 2.9 GPR.
7) EC's include tutoring high school kids through the GEAR UP program, and a TA job for an Associate Professor in the Physics department.

As stated before, ill chance you back if you help me out.

everything seemed to look good. From what i've been told, a&m will take the gpa from whichever college you're from. If you have a 3.1 there, then it will be a 3.1 here. Although they will consider 2 diff type of gpa.

1st one is cumulative gpa wich have to meet the university requirement of 3.0 (all classes)

2nd is your math, english, engineer, and science classes which also have to meet the 3.0 requirement

** also it depend on what major you are applying for require diff gpa i will list what i know
biomedical eng - 3.25
chemical eng - 3.0
civil eng - 3.0
electrical - 2.85
computer eng - 2.85
aerospace - 2.85

I hope that will help. good luck!!! my ed hist also look bad but i think they will consider it as long as you explain the reason in you essay (so i was told)

Im almost certain that your GPA isnt transfered to TAMU. Thats why you need to earn a 2.65 GPA or higher your first semester to be admitted to the upperlevel engineering. Your initially admitted as a lower level student, once you complete your CBK coursework.

I would call the department admin assistant and ask to speak to an transfer adviser. If I were in charge, I would look very favorably to anyone with real world experience as an asset to the student body. I would also think that TAMU would be very sympathetic to someone with a service record. That is a key purpose of the University is to educate military officers.

I wish you luck and thank you for your service. I make sure my sons acknowlege the sacrifice of our veterans and their families.

what i meant was they will use your transfer gpa as is to determine admission. But once you're in then everything will start back at zero w/ the classes you'd complete check off

Alright guys, even if you just read this posting, reply with a "yay" or "nay" as to whether you think i'll make it in......just to humor me. Thanks a million!!
