PS - I CHANCE BACK! :D....good luck to everyone!

bump…someone c’mon please :{

I’m an ignorant Californian who only knows about California schools  but anyway, I think you have a very very good chance for UCSD and a “Match” chance at UCLA / UCB. Especially if you bring up your SAT even more (though it’s good now too). As far as ECs, community service is definitely an EC as is work, sooooo… don’t be discouraged. Sorry how little help that was.

no, thank you! I need all the confidence in the world lol so any is helpful.

Your grades are excellent, but without substantially raising your test scores, you’ll find the higher-tier UCs, NYU and UNC as big reaches.

You need to raise that SAT score. Don’t retake both the SAT and ACT. Focus on one so that you can make a larger improvement on your current score. As your stats stand now, however, you have great chances at all but,

Boston College
UCLA
UC Berkeley
NYU.

Good luck! :)

Get a 2100+ on your SAT or 31+ on your ACT, and you should be find.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

…Bump…

A match at UCLA or UCB? I’m gonna be honest with you, UCLA and UB are OOS for you and with your test scores there both mid-reaches for you. For UC’s you need to take two subject tests, so try to get a 750+ on the next subject test. UNC OOS is gonna be tough too. Yah as said above a 2100+ or a ACT of 31+ could go a long way for you…Study hard on your own for those tests. After a decent amount of practice tests you will see improvement in the SAT if you do detailed test corrections and vocab reading. Also, on the SAT math, they repeat a lot of the concepts so after taking about 5 practice tests you get used to it so you could easily raise that to a 700+. Good Luck
And could you chance me back…
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/985890-uva-match-reach-me.html

The UCs ae very anxious for as many full pay OOS students as they can get right now. With a 2050 plus, you’ll have a good shot.

^Wow, I didn’t know that. I live in CA so I know that the UC schools are in crisis but is it true that the they’re making class sizes bigger and cutting professors?

That’s really interesting…it makes sense too bc they would make more per student

Did you guys all look at his/her other stats? Other than SAT, that is? Yes, SAT is important, but you have a lot of other high-level achievements PLUS a 4.0 unweighted AND thinks recs and essays will be “really good.” So yes, try to pull up your SAT but I really don’t think that UCLA / UCB will be too hard for you… that’s just me though.

I don’t get it. How much easier is it to get high grades in the USA than Canada?

Canadians with 90%+ averages very rarely score lower than 2100 on the SAT, but here I’ve found that to be commonplace.

Do colleges take into account that it’s more difficult to get high GPA’s (espescially in Alberta)?

Thank you guys. Yes my recs will be amazing ik that because my teacher was the national ap teacher of the year two years ago and that carries alot of weight and she knows me very well. and idk about that canadian question…it might be just that we have more population and more diversity than canada…but idk if that’s the reason.

bump 10char

Bump 10 char

bump…any more insight guys?

I think that you have a really good chance at getting into most of those schools. I would recommend taking the ACT/SAT again in order to increase your chances of getting accepted into the harder schools such as BC and NYU. Please chance back :)
