Stanford- High Reach
Columbia (Fu Engineering)- High Reach
Cornell- Reach
UPenn-Reach
Northwestern- High Match
UC Berkeley- High Match
Georgia Tech- In
University of Michigan- In
Purdue University-In

Generally with an applicant of your caliber I’d say your chances are very good to get in to one or two of your reach schools, the problem is even an ex (or for that matter current) adcom officer from those schools couldn’t tell you which one this early in the game.

Stanford–high reach
Columbia (Fu Engineering)–high reach
Cornell–mid reach
UPenn–high reach
Northwestern–mid reach
UC Berkeley–mid reach
Georgia Tech–target/safety
University of Michigan–target
Purdue University–target/safety

Retake the ACT. Also, a minor problem might be that most of your ECs are in your later years of High School. Otherwise, youre pretty well rounded

What do you guys think about my chances at Rose Hulman and Princeton as well? Any other suggestions for schools to look at would also be appreciated. Thanks!

I think most of them would be high reaches. I think the problem here lies with the fact that though you have some great E.C.'s they don’t show a certain amount of focus. For example, I don’t have a clear idea of what field interests you. I think there is still some level of ambiguity there. So for the top schools such as Stanford, Columbia, etc would be high reaches but I’m sure you have a great chance at colleges such as the University of Michigan. Good luck. Will you please chance me as well? Thanks

Most of the schools on your list are well within reach. In fact, I would even say that Purdue would be a safety given your stats. However, with top schools like Stanford admissions are crapshoots so don’t be surprised if you are rejected.

Good luck!!!

Please chance back. My thread is “Really nervous junior.”

Stanford- Reach
Columbia (Fu Engineering)- Reach
Cornell- High match/low reach
UPenn- Mid reach
Northwestern- High match/low reach
UC Berkeley- doable (im from CA and if u were from CA ud be in but idk bout OOS)
Georgia Tech-Super IN
University of Michigan-In
Purdue University- super in XD

Just because his ECs dont have tons of focus doesnt mean he cant put them into context in his essay.
Amazing rank, GPA, and good ECs (football team captain at a pretty big school is no joke, as well as the other stuff you got). You got dis
No outstanding ECs but i mean if your essays are very good you certainly have a shot at every school on this list.

So I just got my June ACT scores back and I’m extremely happy about the results. I got a 34 (35 E, 32 M, 34 R, 36 S) and I was wondering what you guys think that’ll do for my chances at some of the schools on my list. Thanks!

Stanford: high reach
Columbia (Fu Engineering): reach
Cornell: reach
UPenn: reach
Northwestern: match/low reach
UC Berkeley: low reach (OOS students get screwed over by UCs, but you have great numbers so make sure to apply)
Georgia Tech: match
University of Michigan: match
Purdue University: match

You have great stats, but the only issue I see is that your ECs aren’t as strong as some other applicants. Of course, that doesn’t destroy your chances, but it does lower them somewhat. Either way, you’ve done a great job!
