Emory UCLA and Rice shouldnt be too tough. Berkeley is very hard OOS. If you could raise that CR score id say they are all matches, but without it…your chances are pretty good for the ivies and Duke and UChicago. For Chicago write great essays and its a match.

Chance me back?

bump… bump…

Try getting some community hours. Maybe take the SAT again and get your W and CR scores in the 700 range? I think most of them are a pretty good reach though

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/762270-best-ill-ever-chance-back.html#post1063071844

Note: Im not gonna be president of yg but im gonna be just skit team leader…will that make a difference?

You’re SAT score doesn’t seem to correlate with your GPA? at least not compared to people at my school, and I go to a very competitive public school too. You only have 1 SAT ii score, so better get those done and done well! and are you retaking you’re SAT? You’re ECs aren’t all that great, but its okay considering there isn’t much you can do now.

You come across as one of those people who sits and studies all day and thats it. And I’m sure you have a lot more to you than that. Make sure that shows in your app. What’s your passion?

Columbia-reach
Duke-low reach
University of Chicago-low reach
Northwestern-high match
Wash U @ St. Louis-high match
Brown-reach
Dartmouth-reach
Rice-low reach/high match
Emory-?
UAB-
UCLA- low reach (they like really stellar ecs)
Berkeley-low reach/high match

For Berkeley and La atleast, if you brought up your SATs, you’d be in much better shape. But thats in your favor because you can change that. Your GPA is great!

Chance me back! (Sry I don’t know how to post a link to mine)

Haha yep your EC’s are definitely your weak spot, but they’re not bad. Since you’re going for Ivies, I would try getting those scores up. Your GPA is great though, especially with the status of your high school.
Columbia - Reach
Duke - Reach
University of Chicago - Low reach
Northwestern - Low reach
Wash U @ St. Louis - Match
Brown - Reach
Dartmouth - Reach
Rice - Match/Safety
Emory - Match
UAB - would that be university of alabama? i dont know.
UCLA - Match
Berkeley - Match

Chance back?

Okay, you’re from Alabama. That’s gonna work to your favor. Here in NY, we have a much more competitive pool of applicants, especially for Columbia.

BUT I’ll be honest. I think you have close to no chance for Columbia, a school that really emphasizes the notion of a “Renaissance individual.” (Just take a look at their Core Curric and you get the idea of the student they want) I could not detect a Columbia match from your activities… didn’t see much leadership, activities that show initiative, etc. Your scores aren’t strong either. I’d retake the SAT’s and DEFINITELY clean up that 670
(for schools of the caliber you listed, I’d aim for 760s-770s and above).

I would take on more safeties. Perhaps NYU, BU, Tulane, Pitt

Columbia (no)
Duke (no)
University of Chicago (no)
Northwestern (reach)
Wash U @ St. Louis (most likely no)
Brown (no)
Dartmouth (no)
Rice (maybe)
Emory (maybe)
UAB (you would get in)
UCLA (maybe)
Berkeley (maybe)
