Yale: Yale is a crap shoot for basically everybody. I’d say you’re definitely a compelling applicant given your unique circumstances, but this is Yale. It’s a low reach at best.
Brown: not as prestigious or selective as Yale but still tough; high match or maybe low reach.
Vassar: High match.
Amherst: Match or high match. I don’t know too much about Amherst, but I know it’s not as tough to get in as the ivies.
Bates: Match. I doubt you’ll have trouble getting in.
Colby: Match. Same as above.
Bowdoin: Match or high match. Probably the same boat as Amherst.
Bard: Low match. Maybe even safety.
UCB: High match.
UCSC: What? Why is this here? Safety.

Being a URM helps, along with it seems your dedication to theatre. I’m assuming your essays are pretty good to seeming as you have some good content/subject matter to write about.
Honestly, I think you are a strong candidate for most of these schools… ur extra curricular activities are really going to help u out. and being a valedictorian does matters. it shows how much better u did in comparison to ur peers.
Bump
@CollegeGuy007 - I think you should start your own thread, rather than trying to hijack this one.
My bad @BldrDad

Thanks.
Thanks for chancing me! I think your academics look really strong, especially given your small school and rural location, and your EC’s show focus and a lot of hard work, but lots of kids have that, so it won’t put you too far ahead. Your story, which sounds incredible from the tiny bit you shared, is what could really set you apart and make an admissions officer remember your app among the thousands. I think your essays are gonna be a defining factor in whether or not you get in these places. That said, here’s how I think you’ll do:
Brown: never a sure thing, I’d say 50/50 odds because of how random the admissions get with such a string applicant pool
Amherst: you have a pretty good chance here, but again super competitive so you never know for sure
UCB: match/low reach - I would be surprised if you didn’t get in
UCSC: safety for sure
Vassar: don’t know too much about, but probably a high match/low reach
Yale: reach, same deal as brown. If you apply to enough of these competitive schools, your odds improve, but no matter who you are, it’s a game of odds.
Bates: match, I’d be pretty shocked if you didn’t get in
Colby: match, again I think you’ve got a good shot here
Bowdoin: high match, little bit more competitive and unpredictable, so good chance but not for sure
Bard: don’t know too much about, but pretty sure this is safety for you.
I hope you get into brown rd! Good luck on everything!

I think you’re an amazing candidate. As sad as it is, I think the college admissions process becomes more of a crapshoot each year, but I think you have a decent chance at all of those schools. I feel like Brown will admit you RD and I feel like Yale will deny even though you’re amazing. It just boils down to who reads your app! Best of luck!!! xx
I’ll chance anyone if they chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1737447-northwestern-boston-college-boston-university-chances.html#latest
Sorry I fell off College Confidential for a while- a play I was directing just opened two nights ago.
@MYOS1634 here is where I’ve gotten in so far:
Yale- no result yet
Brown- no result yet
Vassar- no result yet
Amherst- Accepted early write
Bates- waitlisted
Colby- accepted
Bowdoin- accepted
Bard- no result yet
UCB- no result yet
UCSC- accepted
As of now I think Amherst is my top pick of schools that have accepted me (that early write marketing thing really works) and brown or vassar are my overall top picks.
I think you’re in great shape for all schools listed. You’re well qualified academically and your ECs are related to yoour major. I’m sure you’ll get into at least a couple of the schools you listed. Good luck!
Chance back please?

Amherst and Bowdoin would be my top choices…
Did you get sufficient financial aid packages (ie. no more debt than the federal loans, or no debt at all)?
That’s an OUTSTANDING list of results. Your accomplishments - up to directing a play - are such as outstanding and these colleges will be lucky to have you on their campuses!
Yale and Brown are reaches, and you should be a match for the rest. Good luck! Chance back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1753701-chance-me-ill-chance-back-p1.html
Thank you all for your support.
@MYOS1634 bowdoin would be my top pick but for some reason there financial aid package was WAY less generous than Amherst’s, so I’m going with Amherst til I hear from the rest of the schools.
You can also contact Bowdoin once all answers are in and tell them they’re your#1 personal choice, but that Amherst gave you x in scholarship (document attached) so you’d have to go where the costs are lowest due to your family’s financial situation. So you’re wondering whether they might be able to revisit their financial aid offer so that you can afford to go there…
