Every state school I’m applying to is OOS for me.

You seem like a good applicant and have a decent shot at all of these except maybe WUSTL and Cornell. Try to make yourself stand out since other applicants have similar SATs. :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1063409-chances-uva-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

UC Berkeley (Finance),Carnegie Mellon (Chemical Engineering),Cornell (Chemical Engineering),UMichigan (Chemical Engineering),NYU (Finance; ED II)
UVA (Finance),WUSTL (Finance): you have a strong chance with good Sats, but low SAT IIs and avg Ec and OOS (for the state schools) will make those colleges reaches

All other colleges you are most likely in

Michigan will be tough with your GPA… very tough.
Cornell and WashU are more unlikely.
Berkeley is just as likely as Michigan.
For the other schools, you have a decent chance.

berkeley, cornell, bc, and carnegie mellon are reaches. you should get in everywhere else. although if you are out of state uva is a reach, they have a very low out of state acceptance rate.

I think you’re good for most of those schools expect for WUSTL and Cornell, which are reaches. Can you answer the question I posted on the link below?

You chanced me but forgot a college!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1065901-can-i-get-chanced-these-school-much-appreciated.html</a></p>

you have great 2400 sat but 1600 sat is relatively low
compared to your 2400 sat…
Your GPA is good but probably not one of the best.
But you have good distribution from reaches to safeties
good luck

-Boston College (Finance) - high match
-UC Berkeley (Finance) - low reach
-Carnegie Mellon (Chemical Engineering) - low reach
-Cornell (Chemical Engineering) - reach

-UTexas (Finance) - in
-Villanova (Finance) -in
-UVA (Finance) - in
-WUSTL (Finance) - low reach

I think the reaches are for two reasons: 1st: you gpa is a little low for those schools though I might be completely off on that seeing as I use a 4.0 scale 2nd: though it’s super cool you started three new clubs, you started them senior year and because of that, it kind of looks to me (and possibly admissions) that you wanted to pad your resume for when you apply to their college.

-Boston College (Finance) - in

thanks everyone.

futurepresident, my gpa would equate to around a 3.7 on a 4.0 scale. As for the clubs, I’ve been doing the political and debate club throughout high school and have held presidency since my junior year. Most of the other ones I’ve done since my freshmen year other than two clubs which I co-founded this year. Does that change my chances in any way?

You’re pretty good. I say in to most of them. Chance all plss.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1067379-chance-me-if-you-can.html</a></p>

Might also look at Holy Cross and Colgate both very good schools. Holy Cross has a strong alumni network in the business community and on Wall Street. HC is also need blind for admissions and has a January 15th application due date. Comparable to Villanova and Boston College.

-Boston College (Finance)-high match
-UC Berkeley (Finance)-IF OOS low reach IS match

Please chance me back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1067666-chance-me-uc-berkeley-ucla-stanford-johns-hopkins-princeton-harvard-yale-brown.html</a></p>

Every other school you’re applying to other than these I think are Ins/Matches, these are the ones that are a bit more selective

-UC Berkeley (Finance)-low reach
-Carnegie Mellon (Chemical Engineering)-low reach
-Cornell (Chemical Engineering)-reach
-Emory (Finance)-low reach
-WUSTL (Finance)-reach

Your SAT score is just a tad low for these schools, especially for Cornell since they are M + CR only. Your community service is great, ECs are adequate. Good thinking in retaking the SAT II, they hurt your application as of now. As for NUY though, you are applying Early Decision II, is that binding? I see no reason as to why you would apply ED II, when you can easily apply Regular Decision and get accepted?

thanks everyone!

mbirabaharan, yes NYU is binding. I initially fell in love with the school after I attended a campus visit, and the job prospects made it easily my top choice at the time. But after realizing how much the lack of an actual campus and sports will affect my college experience as well as the fact that I would like to do chemical engineering and then get an MBA later, I am not sure right now that NYU would be my best fit.

I don’t think I have the stats to get in RD which is why I did EDII, and my dad would love for me to get in, not to mention I’d be going to a prestigious school that I could transfer out of if I don’t like it.

For everyone else - do you all feel that I’m a match for UTexas McCombs? I am really interested in the school at this point, but I heard that its extremely difficult for OOS students to get in. I’ll probably switch majors to chemical engineering if I go (they won’t let me do it right now since the deadline passed). If I wanted to switch to chemE, would it be difficult?

-BC = likely a match
-UC Berkeley = low reach
-Carnegie Mellon (Chemical Engineering) = match
-Cornell (Chemical Engineering) = high reach
-Emory (Finance) = high match
-UFlorida (Bioengineering) = in
-UIllinois (Chemical Engineering) =in
-Lehigh (Integrated Business and Engineering Honors program) = in
-UMD (Finance) = match
-UMichigan (Chemical Engineering) = high match
-NYU (Finance; ED II) = in
-UTexas (Finance) = match
-Villanova (Finance) = match
-UVA (Finance) = match
-WUSTL (Finance) = low reach
