Most of the others are something of a reach, but pick four or five you like and apply. The only way to know is to apply. Consider some more like BU.

Also consider some excellent small liberal arts colleges. For example, take a look at Denison University in Ohio, Rollins College in Florida, and St. Lawrence University in NY. I am a firm believer in liberal arts colleges for the best education outside the most elite schools.

Finally, since it appears that you are interested in journalism, you might consider the Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio (NOT Ohio State University). Their journalism school is the second best program on campus. Excellent journalism school. High match for you. Along with Syracuse, it made the following top 10 list of journalism schools:

UCB - reach
USC - reach
UMich - low reach
Tulane - low reach
NYU - low reach
BU - high match (would say match but I have seen people get rejected that I definitely thought would get in)
Syracuse - high match (^)
UT Austin - high match
U Miami - match
UWisconsin - match
UC SB - match

I think you have a good shot at UCSB UWisconsin Boston, Syracuse, and Austin. The rest I’m not super familiar with for their freshman admissions, but you have pretty good stats and ecs… who knows whatll happen

I dont know much about these schools besides Tulane but I’l do my best.
Tulane- high match
NYU- low reach

UCB - not sure

I can’t speak for the other schools, but my mother is a professor at SU, and you are a great candidate for Newhouse! Your ECs will make you a strong contender, because they like students who show initiative or passion in their intended field. Good luck! (:

UW Madison- match, being from the area, I know a solid 28 on the ACT will get you in along with a strong gpa and cocurriculars… not sure how much you’d enjoy this winter weather though haha

I think you have a pretty good shot at most of these! Work hard on the essay and get good recommendations. Your ECs are very good and colleges will appreciate that. NYU and Syracuse are great if you can deal with a little cold coming from Cali
Best of luck to you

I’ve never understood these “chance for chance” threads. If you don’t know your OWN chances, how can you say that you’ll be able to chance others?

Lol all aboard the cognitive dissonance train!

@Teamrocketgrunt Of course I have an idea about what my chances are, I’m not totally clueless. I’m just interested in hearing other peoples insights. Maybe they know about something I don’t. Just looking for information (and maybe a little hope and encouragement).
