Hi, I'm currently a junior in Ohio and this is what I'm expecting my college apps to look like. I may retake the ACT, but other than that it most likely won't change a lot.

ACT- 32 (31 E, 30 M, 30 R, 36 S)
Unweighted Cumulative GPA-3.99
Weighted - 4.359
Class Rank - 1/309

SAT IIs:
None yet, but I plan on taking Chemistry and Math II

APs:
This Year:
AP Chemistry
AP U.S. Government
Next Year:
AP Biology
AP English Comp
AP U.S. History
AP Calculus AB

Next year's classes:
Honors Physics
AP Biology
AP English Comp
AP U.S. History
AP Calculus AB
Honors Post War American Studies

ECs:
4 Years of Football (9th-Freshman, 10th-12th Varsity, Captain 12th)
4 Years of Varsity Track and Field
NHS officer (11th-12th)
STRIVE (anti-drug program) President (11th-12th)
FCA (Fellowship of the Christian Athlete, 9th-12th)
Student Government Rep (10th)
100+ Hours of Community Service (10th-12th)
Research in farm and industrial run-off with Bowling Green State University (This upcoming summer)
Ohio High School Sports Association Sportsmanship Ambassador (11th-12th)

I'm considering majoring in some type of Engineering (maybe Chemical) at:
Stanford
Cornell U
Columbia (Fu Engineering)
Northwestern
UC Berkeley
Georgia Tech
University of Michigan
Purdue University
Cincinnati

Any other college suggestions would be good too.

Thanks for reading.

I think you have a solid chance at most of the colleges you are looking at; Stanford and Columbia are reaches. Are you only taking 2 APs junior year? A lot of the Ivy applicants I know are taking 5+, just a side note! Knowing your AP test scores could help evaluate your chances- the essay and interview are also crucial components of your app. I would retake the ACT and try to raise it by 2 points but I don’t think that would matter as much. Good luck!

Stanford- High Reach (for everyone- seriously)
Columbia (Fu Engineering)- high reach (same as stanford)
Northwestern- high match/low reach
UC Berkeley- low reach
Georgia Tech- match
University of Michigan- match
Purdue University- match
Cincinnati- don’t know enough
Cornell- if you are a girl, match. If you are a guy, low reach (I looked at the data, acceptance rate of females into the engineering school is about 36%, for guys it is about 15%)

You have a good resume, lots of leadership but nothing that stands out a lot. I think you have a really good chance at all of these schools, but with ones like Columbia and Stanford it really is a crapshoot. If you have a super standout essay or a good hook it will increase your chances, but other than that, just score well on AP tests and SAT IIs. Maybe retake your ACT’s?

We are basically looking at the exact same schools. I took Berkeley off my list after visiting, and am not looking at purdue or Cincinnati, but other than that we are identical!
Chance me back?

Thanks for the feedback! It is definitely appreciated!

A few things I forgot to mention:
I know my two APs this year might not look impressive, but, including next year’s classes, I will have taken every AP my school offers if that makes any difference. My school also follows the seven point grading scale (where a B is 92) and I have gotten all “A’s” with one “A-” which is why I have a 3.99 rather than a 4.00. I don’t know if any of these things will really make a difference, but I felt like I should mention them.

Anyone else have anything to say?

I would suggest you to look at Lafayette College!

Thanks! I’ll definitely take a look.

I’d say you have a great chance at all of these schools, but Stanford and cornell can be a crapshoot for anyone, although you have as good a chance as any. Like someone above me said, those schools are a reach for anyone, especially for something as competitive as engineering.

Chance back please
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1105114-please-chance-me-these-schools-i-will-chance-you-back.html#post12191049

Thanks! Chanced you back!

Stanford is a reach . actually i think stanford is just pure luck for everyone. low reach for columbia. high match for northwestern

I think you have a pretty good chance, your rank is great, strong ecs, but your act score seems a little low, maybe try taking the sat…
I’d also look at wpi (worceste polytechnic institute), 60 percent of students are majoring in engineering, they have a GREAT campus and it’s near Boston.

Chance me back? Lacking ecs?

I think you have pretty good chances at all schools besides Stanford and the IVY schools. You’re probably in at Georgia and purdue. I can see UM and UCB being very hard if you’re an out of state applicant. Very solid resume.

Chance back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1105064-bentley-u-northeastern-transfer-will-chance-back.html

You have a chance at all schools. Like any schools, people who should get in don’t and people who shouldn’t do, but for the most part, save for the Ivies, I would be surprised if you didn’t get admitted.

Chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1071282-chance-me-please.html

As seen from your stats you are very qualified for a majority of these schools. THe only schools I would say your a reach in are Columbia, Stanford, and to a lesser extent Cornell, However everyone is. I would recommend getting some sort of award/medal in engineering, or take a summer program at one of those schools. This means one more recommendation letter from a Columbia, or Stanford(big brownie points).

Return the favor?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1107953-chance-average-junior-penn-state-northeastern-plzzz-i-will-chance-back.html

i agree with most of the above posters.

Going for engineering, but you might want to try adding another SAT II more on the literature/languages side (maybe History/foreign lang/literature). I mean, all of your credentials point toward a strong focus and direction in sci/engineering, but an engineer candidate with a head for words? A bonus!

return the feedback?
