Chance me please! IM SUPER DESPERATE!

<p>GPA: 3.7 unweighted. my school doesn't weigh.
Top 60 high school in the country</p>

<p>SAT: 700 CR, 690 W, 560 M. composite: 1950
retook the SAT recently. Results are not posted yet, but i definitely improved.</p>

<p>SAT II: so far, US history 700. </p>

<p>Courses: APUSH, AP Lit, AP Bio, AP Psych, AP Microeconomics, Honors Forensics, Honors English</p>

<p>Hooks: URM (black), First Generation, super low income, Intel research</p>

<p>EC's: President of speech and debate team
National Honors Society
Black Student Association
Volunteer tutor or 2 years, as well as a paid private tutor for 3 years.
Internship at District Attorney's Office
Worked two summers at a karate school
Summer Internship at prestigious law firm.
Summer volunteer for well known assemblyman.
Did research at a local community college for 2 years.</p>

<p>With that Math score, I seriously doubt it, regardless of how strong the rest of your application is. Your SAT score need to be at the very least in the 2000s to even think about it. Everyone will probably tell you to get your GPA up, but Columbia’s GPA is 3.8, so I don’t see a large difference. Pretty good EC’s. Get your SAT wayyyyy up there, and write some killer essays, then you would have a better idea. But with your SAT, I would have to say no. :frowning: At least there’s still time to fix that. I recommend Up Your Score 2010-2011. My score went from a 2040 to a 2310 in a month. There’s hope for us yet! ^_^</p>

<p>The math score is the most easily fixed. The math on the test is easy, but seniors have been away from these simple concepts for a while. You use nouns and verbs every day, but how often do you use geometry. Take lots of practice tests and concentrate on what you miss. You should be able to raise your score significantly.</p>
