My name is Shad Faraz and i am a Canadian student currently enrolled in the IB program. I am going to grade 11 and am starting to look at possible colleges to apply to. I want to go into Pre-Med but am not sure what to major in.

Just to get some things out of the way...
-I am a South Asian Male who came to Canada when i was 13( I am 16 now) and knew little English. I have come a long way from there. Maybe i can use that to my advantage.
-I do not need any financial aid for any school I get into.
-I have had pretty good grades so far in Pre-IB with straight As in the last two years.

SAT:
Math:760
Writing:720
Critical Reading:650
Total:2130(I still have a year to study and get it up to 2250)

Volunteer/Summer Activities:
By the time i am done i will have about 450 hours.
-Bridgepoint Hospital
-Canadian Cancer Society
-Youth Assisting Youth
-Canadian Red Cross
-Senior's Care for North Toronto
-Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Extra Curricular: (I am not gonna lie.. my ECs need some work)
-Junior Soccer Team(city runner-ups)
-Empowered Student Partnership(9,10)
-Tech Crew(9,10)
-Class Rep(10)
-Asian Club(9,10)
-Passionate Squash, Ping Pong and Cricket player(past 6 years)

I have bunch of awards but nothing significant enough to brag about.

The following are the schools i am currently thinking about. If you have some good suggestions, please list them.

Johns Hopkins
Cornell
University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill
Duke
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
Vanderbilt
UW- Madison
UPenn
NorthWestern
McGill

I really appreciate your chances. Thanks guys

Yes, Kungfumaster is correct, you need to send your two very best scores into the ivies that you apply for. I would say that your SAT right now is weak, but if you do get it up to a 2250 that would be excellent. Volunteering looks unique. I would say that your EC's aren't good at all for ivies. You have to remember that there will always be better candidates with better EC"s, and ask yourself if your the candidate to beat and look up to. I would say:

UPenn: High Reach
Cornell: Reach
Duke:Match/Reach
Northwestern: Match

thankyou trancegod69. I obviously do not want to make excuses. But the thing is.. after i came to Canada three years ago, i was totally clueless... like i had no idea ECs were important because in my country, they are not. So i fell back in that department. But i feel, if i can get my SAT up and stress my constant dedicated volunteering in the field of medicine, i can get into a good place. Also remember, i will probably only end up applying to one Ivy which is Cornell. JHU is my dream school and the one i would love to be a part of

With your current stats:
Johns Hopkins - reach
Cornell - reach
UNC - match
Duke - slight match
UMAA - match
Vanderbilt - match
UWisconsin - safety
UPenn - reach
Northwestern - slight match

You sound upset come on! Your a match for Duke! Apply early decision if you like John's Hopkins, your a good candidate, just make sure to study your butt off for the SAT, because it matters a lot. And also you have to make your EC's good. Do some research in Canada! They have a good healthy care system......although they tax you for it.(So its not "free" technically)

haha no i wasnt upset. I know Duke is a great place and i would more than gradly go there. Yea i think i may ED or EA Hopkins but first i need my SAT to be 2200 to be on the safe side. thx for the suggestions trancegod and realM
