Chance me please? Ivies

Hi I’m a junior with not very much time left and I know that selective schools are always a challenge but I would like to realistically know my chances.

Parents- dad went to college and has masters, mom never finished.
Combined Income- 85,000
Moved around a lot as a kid, overseas for 5 years, 4 diff elementarys, 2 diff highschools, 2 diff middle schools

United States citizen (born in North Carolina)
Current residence: Texas, 40 mins south of Dallas
Ethnicity: African (Somali)
Parents are immigrants who were refugees from a country torn by a civil war, I am first generation.
Muslim, female.
Gpa: 4.5 W (102)
SAT: 1570/1600
ACT: 34
Rank: top 10%, just transferred to very, very competitive public school.
Prospective major: undecided, leaning towards political science or business

Honors/pre APs: English 1 and 2, algebra 1, geometry, Bio, Chemistry,
APs: Human geography, world history, English 3, environmental science.
Next year APs: English 4, Gov, Bio.
College classes/dual credit: Econ, college algebra, statistics.
Took regular math and history first year at new school because of extremely new environment/hesitance but got 100s.

Extra curricular: volunteering is a large part of my activities. I volunteer at a food drive for disadvantaged new African immigrants for 2 years now. Held a fundraiser for a relief program for drought ridden regions of Eastern Africa earlier this year, raised around 5,000.
Been in toastmasters (public speaking club) for 3 years, President for last 2. Was in Girl Up which is a program to help girls get education world wide. Joined African student association and Muslim student association this year because my old school did not offer them, might get officer positions for next year. Was in key club but that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere so I might just not include it. National honor society. Took debate this year and will be on debate team next year.

The selling point: I think this would be the fact that I interned for a congresswoman for a few weeks and might get a recommendation letter. I also might do Yale/UN youth program this summer.

Awards: not very impressive, but I represented my school freshman year in an academic decathlon for private schools in reading/writing, Honor roll.

I’m aiming for Rice University and Columbia, Harvard as a reach.

Your stats are great and your ECs are good. Your URM and first-generation hooks will probably help your application. Write amazing essays and you could get into any of the schools you apply to such as Columbia
