Chance me please? kinda worried...not sure about what to think

<p>So i've applied to UT Austin as my backup and of course i got in..but then i thought you know what i'm applying to eveywhere i can since you only get to do this one time. So i've already applied to UC Berkeley and i'm applying to Rice University, Cornell, Columbia, Georgia Tech, MIT (sigh) and that's pretty much it. My family pretty much tells me my stats are like "the best of the worst but the worst of the best" so idk what's gonna happen but hey might as well try. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help me know better where I stand, and i'll chance back =). so this is my resume: (btw I realize my SAT/ACT kinda sucks..i'm retaking SAT in january for the hell of it)</p>

<p>ALSO real important what worries me perhaps the most is that i've had like 1 b per semester throughout high school. and now in senior year my 7 AP classes are destroying me and my rank of 19 might even drop below my twin sister's (who's 20). and i'm getting a b in AP Stat and AP Physics....will this totally make them hate me?</p>

• Champions Road Mosque- 40 hours in 9th grade helping the community expand
• Pakistan Earthquake Relief(making care packages)-40 hours in 10th grade

• Helped teach Spanish speakers English in Humble Library, additional 20 hours
• Tutored neighborhood kids/anyone who needs it in math all throughout high school-about 40 hours. This is just to help those kids who need help in math but can’t afford it.
• More this year on the above, and essentially anywhere else that needs help.</p>

<p>Extracurricular Activities/Jobs/Internships/Recognition:
• Unified Tae Kwon Do- have been practicing/competing/instructing since 1999. Have achieved leadership position and distinction of 2nd degree black belt (and higher) and I’ve competed in many, many statewide and nationwide tournaments in which I’ve almost always placed gold/silver/bronze for sparring, and sometimes for forms. I’ve dedicated many, many hours of my life here and have gone (almost without fail) here for a routine of about 1.25 hours a day 3 days a week for over 10 years. Large part of my life-I’ve been a Black belt and teaching instructor for about 7 years, including all of high school.
• Health Occupations Students of America- 9th through 12th, volunteered much through this, have placed top ten in state for Biotechnology competition 3 years running, gone to the leadership conferences as well for 3 years
• Have played extracurricular tennis all my life and all throughout high school, competing in USTA ranked matches through high school and competing for the Memorial Northwest Club 2005-2010 and helping teach kids in Giammalva and Memorial Northwest Raquet Clubs on occasion
• Have competed for the Klein Tennis team 2008-2010, placed in tournaments and have helped maintain Klein High school rank of 2nd in state
• Worked for Tristar Packaging Inc. (a plastic merchandise manufacturing plant) in summers of 07 and 08 (June-August) for 40 hour work weeks, this led to valuable real-world work experience and internship opportunities with associated engineers
• Co-Created a branch of Amnesty International in Klein in 11th grade and was co-president. Raised over 30 members and much money and had it sent to country of club members’ choice, I personally was featured in Houston newspapers for it and had an article written over how I started it.
• Interned with a Mechanical Engineer, Barry Smith, for 35 hour work weeks during summer of 09. Opportunity given through Tristar Packaging Inc., and the skills I’ve learnt I still apply in Robotics club
• Interned with an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer from Custom Technical Services (was contacted by them because I was recommended to them by Tristar) during summer of 2010 for intense 70 hour work weeks. Was given complete responsibility of large parts of various jobs done, I was very well respected and they even wrote me a recommendation letter for a scholarship.
• Computer Science Club in 11th and 12th grade, have held positions of Reporter and UIL Coordinator. Have been to many competitions and placed in a few. Went to HP Code Wars in 2010, our school placed 4th there. Helped, along with Brian Bobco and some others, bring about Robotics subsection in Computer Science Club, advocated this and this led to our school getting into FIRST Robotics international competition. Now I’m helping spread robotics knowledge amongst the underclassmen and we’re going to continue instructing them once the kits Michael Xu ordered come in.
• Debate in 10th, 11th, and going to resume second semester of 12th. Have helped set up Klein tournaments, been to many tournaments and often place in Public Forum division. Have received Honorary Debater recognition in the National Forensic League, won club award of most improved speaker in 10th.
• Continuing much this year and trying to teach the younger kids so they can resume us seniors’ roles in Tae Kwon Do, Tennis, Robotics, Amnesty, etc.</p>

<p>Skills/Talents
• Am fluent in Urdu and Spanish (6 years speaking, 4 years taken in school) and this has allowed me to communicate with those unable to speak english, or to help those unable to speak english
• Have done extracurricular robotics and engineering projects since 10th grade alongside Brian Bobco, have built various autonomous robots that are built from our own plans, self-constructed microcontrollers, our programming, etc. After having learned all this over 2 years we have started competing and this includes the FIRST Robotics competition and the MATE International ROV competition.
• 2nd dan black belt, took years of practice and training and discipline. I am very well-versed in Tae Kwon Do and as such have been an instructor for others, including adults far older than me, for a while now.
• I volunteer often and have accumulated many hours, this has taught me countless things regarding morals, ethics, communication, and real-life work place
• I’ve had much engineering experience by now, and I’ve come to realize that I truly do have a passion for it and just how natural it comes to me
• I’ve always been a good speaker, and have always been a leader. This is why debate comes so easily to me and this is why I’m often put in officer positions in clubs and such
• Although it didn’t come in handy very often in High School, I was always a good writer. I often represented our middle school in writing competitions and such and I’ve even won a couple of essay competitions in high school. Writing is just something that comes fluently to me, perhaps due to my love of reading. I was even the only person to get a 9 out of 9 so far this year in English 4 AP.</p>

<p>oh GPA is 5.1904 out of 6.0 which means on an honors/AP scale i have an overall grade of 91.904</p>

<p>And my high school is incredibly competitive, one of the best in houston</p>

<p>You already got into your safety, I say go for it. Your SAT is beastin, killer EC/community service. Your GPA may be on the lower end of what a common CCer has, but your school, like you said, is very competitive and probably doesn’t have any grade inflation like a lot of other schools. [I wouldn’t worry about your GPA, it’s high compared to everyone else in your school (which is who you’re compared against also).] I would say you have a good shot at UC Berkeley, Rice, and Cornell. Columbia is more difficult to gauge, but you’re already at their target score range, it’s just such a reach for everyone that it’s too hard tell. Apply to all.</p>

<p>Much thanks that makes me feel better =)</p>

<p>Bump…</p>

<p>Dude, you’re kicking ass and taking names. Maybe not MIT/Columbia, but I’d say you’ve got as good a chance as anyone for the rest.</p>

<p>Feel free to chance me back, <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1049165-these-hooks-could-get-me.html[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1049165-these-hooks-could-get-me.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

<p>Thanks buddy though not sure what “kicking ass and taking names” means lol!</p>

<p>It means you’re doing really well. Your chances are good.</p>

<p>Bumpbump…</p>

<p>bump10char</p>

<p>Mylastbump…lol</p>

<p>I think you’ve definitely got a chance. I would’ve applied to a few more reach/match schools if I were you; your EC’s are beastly.</p>

<p>Thank you dude makes me feel loads better  and I thought about it but wasn’t sure where to apply in the end. I’d really like to get in rice or cornell.</p>
