TOEFL: 82 IBT (However LUC and DePaul didn't request for them)
GPA: 2.83 weighted (4.0 scale)
AP: World History(5), Language and Composition (4), Music Theory (taking this year), Psychology (taking this year).

<p>Neither of my parents went to college (highest degree: some high school).
I have taken 4 full years of Japanese, and I have 2 language credits for Korean (listening and writing tests I took back in 9th grade)
I go to a public high school in Fairfax County, VA (recognized by US News and World Report as a silver medal school)</p>

<p>Intended major for LUC: music (violin)
- I do not know if my counselor wrote a very strong letter of recommendation because I am not allowed to see it, but I trust her and believe that she wrote a very honest and strong one for me.
- I sent LUC my music resume that includes all the repertoire I have played, orchestras I have been in, leadership rolls I had, awards and recognitions I have received, and secondary instrument and its awards (classical piano - 12 years)
- My essay was reviewed by two Yale music graduates, and they both agreed I wrote a very powerful essay about my goals in music.</p>

<p>Intended major for DePaul: psychology
- Along with my counselor's letter of recommendation, my AP Psychology teacher (also had me for psychology and sociology last year) wrote me a letter.
- My transcript had a problem reaching DePaul. Through this, I got to get to know a freshman admissions counselor, and she and I have been getting in touch with each other since then.</p>

<p>Your scores are consistent with those of several students I know who were accepted to DePaul. Loyola generally wants scores a bit higher; however, I think that your situation is unique enough that you have a good chance at both schools. Did you audition for the music school at DePaul?</p>

<p>I applied to DePaul as a psychology major - it was too late for me to go for music when I found their deadline for music program.</p>

<p>I am planning on calling them on Monday to see if I could schedule an interview, if it is optional. Do you think that could help me?</p>

<p>Yes, as you are an out-of-stater, I would think that a campus visit and interview would be important, but more for yourself than for the school.</p>

<p>i think you will get accepted to DePaul. My brother goes there and i know the average ACT is around 23 so with your SAT equivalent of 24 you should get in. Also, they like having students who are first in thier family to go to college so that should be advantage to you. Idk much about Loyola but you probably have a chance…</p>

By the way, Arlington is waaaaaay better than Fairfax;)</p>

i’m a little bitter about this, but i am well aware that LUC looks for higher GPAs and SAT scores… but i’m still glad i tried.</p>

<p>i’ve been talking to some students who applied to LUC from my area and 6 out of 11 got in.</p>

<p>can somebody PLEASE chance me for depaul? i’m sure i’m hearing back from them in 2 weeks (a girl who applied 2 weeks before i did just got her letter in the mail) but i really want to know if i’m solid for them (it’s my 1st choice…)</p>
