Truust,

thank you for your detailed reply! It really helps a lot!!

Btw, I’m not sure if you read this. But my mom went to Penn grad school so I have a legacy, but I am an international student even though I go to public high school here. Upenn is very stingy to international students only…;((( it is my dream school but it is need-aware for internationals…

I am having a dilemma over whether to apply ED to upenn or not. I know that Penn gives a little boost to ed applicants but my counselor tells me that I have to be realistic and suggest that I apply EA for a second-tier schools…

Btw, my GPA is not strong, rather kind of weak. Weighted is 4.8 out of 5.3 and unweighted is 3.6 out of 4. Yes I know it is very weak…

This is why I am so worried about …,everything…

BTW, I talked with my guidance counselor and she told me that UC Berkeley and UCLA will be “reach” for me … and UMichican and Boston College as “target” schools…
and it was based on past students acceptance result…

wow, I thought UC schools would be match schools but I guess not…

I think you have a good chance at all, especially Penn IF you apply to Nursing or CAS, not Wharton. I also suggest you look into the University of Washington for the Nursing programs and Pre-Med programs.
However, I highly, highly, highly, highly recommend you not apply early decision when you have financial need unless your family’s income is less than the threshold required by Penn to get a full-ride. I think that is 65k? I know that is what it is at Duke for sure.

Chance me back?

Thank you for your input!

My mom went back to school this year so I may need a full scholarship… but UPENN is too hard to get in, considering that my GPA is really low… 3.6/4.0 and 4.8/5.3 weighted…so…

I am really not sure where to apply for Early…

I want to apply ED either at Penn or Cornell… but…

any input is welcome!!!

If you need a full scholarship… then the top schools really might not be good ideas for you, esp. for international students… you can apply and see how much they offer you, but good luck with that. you might want to consider going to places where you can get full rides. maybe the schools won’t be as good, but at least you don’t have to take loans and end up with a huge debt. or maybe you want to consider community colleges and transfer… nothing wrong with that if you are worried about your GPA. I will tell you the hard truth: if you can’t afford it, then you can’t go. that’s the way it is. I am sorry. that’s also what happened to my friend, she really wanted to attend a college, but she can’t afford it, so she can’t go. it’s really a shame but what can you do, you know?

also, usually legacy is for undergrad.

chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1533472-chance-me-top-business-schools-please.html

OHHHH AND I WANNA TELL YOU you have amazing ECs!!

I see church, so if you are Bible-lover, remember Jeremiah 29:11 :)

Thanks for your kind reply!

Yes I know that it is hard to get into colleges with full scholarship…
but I am just gonna apply to HYP and other need-blind/ need-based schools just in case…I get in …I know it sounds very unrealistic… and if I don’t get into any of them I will probably go to state schools…:)

Btw, can anyone tell me any school that I might be able to get in with a full ride???

bumpppppppppppppppp:) anyone??? please?

The idea of a full ride is completely pointless if you’re referring to ivies like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Penn, Stanford, etc…everything is done by need. They won’t offer you scholarships. And I am all for reaching for your dreams, but I would advise against UPenn ED. Yeah, they have a little higher admit rate for ED, but what people fail to acknowledge is that the ED applicants are always much more qualified than majority of RD applicants…so the increase in apparent admit rate might actually lower YOUR chances of admission since ED is much more competitive. And being a UPenn Grad school legacy won’t get you nearly as far as being a UPenn college legacy would…they may be the same university but they are still separate schools. I truly do wish you the best.

Thank you for the kind reply! Yeah penn Ed doesn’t sound very realistic… Do you recommend any schools that I have a chance for ED??

thanks! that’s nice to hear :)

Do I have any chance of getting in Uchicago and Georgetown by early action?? Or Cornell ED??
