Reflection[ul]
[li] Strengths: test scores? gpa?[/li][li] Weaknesses: um, recs? essays? who the hell knows?[/li][/ul]

Don't be afraid to be brutally honest! I appreciate all input! :)

Only weakness in your application is the your from California and its not even your doing. Haha, still, I think you have an excellent chance. 50+%. Good job on the hard work, you out did me.

speaking as someone who spent an overnight and talked to LOTS and LOTS of people. you have a strong shot. Stanford is looking for intellectually driven, committed and vibrant people. They are not looking for the next world class juggler or the inventor of glow sticks. The people were normal, despite being some of the most brilliant and compassionate people I have ever met. They were also humble and that type of humbleness comes from people who do not see themselves as any different from others. I know this is not the straightforward response you may want. But seriously, stop second guessing yourself and realize you have accomplished so much and it will come across in your essays. I think your essays sounded great and they made me want to meet you (isn't that the point?) I really hope we go to stanford together next year!

Wow, really TMP?
Lol, I was looking at your other posts about other peoples chance threads and it was exactly your comments that made me want to slit my wrists, lol.
I felt like so baddddd. Felt stupid Y.Y

YOUR WORDS LIFT MY SPIRITS!!

@NeuroChick: Haha, hope to meet you too!. Funny thing was about the "humbleness" part, my intellectual vitality actually said, SAID "I live only for myself". BUT, to qualify that statement (it was a major axiom of Rand's philosophies), I said that when I help others (I do have quite a bit community service hours, haha, so I thought I better not make me seem contradictory), I do it "out of my will, not my obligation".

That essay was the most risky part of the application. If my adcom misunderstands it. I. Am. Done. For. Lol.

My god, I feel like I'm looking at my own resume except with a higher GPA and a lower SAT score... I even wrote about the same topic in my EC essay!

Well, I certainly hope you get in, and I'd like to think that you have a very strong shot at doing so! ;) Good luck!

@Faelivrin: oh, about GPAs, my school doesn't report waited GPAs, and I did it myself and I included that as part of my document I uploaded to the additional information.

I hope that doesn't seem presumptuous? Like an adcom would be like, this dude thinks he's all that, calculating his OWN wgpa? That would really suck, haha.

On a side note, what do you guys think about the post formatting?! Lol, took me almost an hour to do that, I'm not too proficient with these sorts of things.

Hmm. If i seem like the person whose comments make other want to slit their wrists, I'll have to take a more active look at my posts. Thanks for letting me know, I mean no harm.

Wow son. ur impressive. stanford is crapshoot but i think u got it done. chance me lol

Yeah, you have outdone me. I am also scared because my short essays are similar to yours( I applied EA, too). You went to Boys' State!?!? I was in Coloma. That was what my short essay was about.

sorry to bump up this old thread guys, but i would really like to see Oprah!'s and st.aegis's opinions.

thanks!

Wouldn't being from California help? ~40% of the enrolled class is typically from CA.

yea, im pretty sure being from CA WILL help. I also saw the statistics. Can anyone confirm that?

^if anything, coming from CA HURTS because so many people from here apply to stanford. they want diversity... so you have to be even more outstanding if you are from CA. kinda sucks, but oh well :(

um, now im confused....

If its worse for CA, then why are 40% of the accepted people from CA, like michelle said?...

because probably a LOT more people apply from CA

if i post, people are going to flame me lol

so, oprah! then, are you out there? :)

yayyy i love how im a cc celebbbbb
anyway i really like your chances
as far as i can see, you only have a few issues:
1. you're azn =(
2. you're from Cali, which I maintain is not a good thing for your chances
3. you're EC's aren't THAT good. I mean, you've done some good stuff, but you haven't done anything spectacular

but other than that, you're tip top
i would say that you have a 60% chance
good work hunz

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i got approval from THE Oprah! THE Oprah!

Muahahaha, take that guys!

kidding, of course ;)

hehehehehe
