Well I got into cit with a high school thats ranked like #400 in the state of pennsylvania, sat scores that were Math: 620 Writing: 590 and Reading: 640. SAT subject test physics: 550 math level 1: 590 literature: 530. (No one at all in my school takes sat subject tests, ive taken it 3 times, and there was only a person in the same room with me once. Sat average in my school per test is like a 480 or 500)

Im not quite sure of my gpa, but i had 90/91 average in 9th/10 and a 97 average in 11th. This year its looking like a 95/96.

I own a website, psionicsonline.net. Its a parapsychological website.

I didnt complete any certifications, but ive built my own linux distro. Carnegie mellon is aware of this.

Senior

Currently Enrolled in AP Calculus AB,, not going to take the test if i can get away with it.

Dual Enrollment student. I have will have 1.5 years worth of general eds college credits at the end of the school year.

Id say you are in. Make sure you take SAT subject test.

SCS is one of the most competitive schools, if not the most, in CMU. (Other than conservatory programs)

They are big on the maths and your academic record as well as your ECs and recs, etc.

With 3 C's on your transcript and low SAT scores (moreso the C's) you've hurt your chances pretty well. Your certs and APs will help you though.

If you were applying right now I'd give you 20-30%, but you have some good room for improvement being your junior year. I would recommend that you apply RD next year so that you can do well first semester and show a continuing upward trend.

Also get good recs and write a good essay. You are far from "in".

From what you posted, I'd say you have a fair chance of making it into SCS, provided that you get A-Bs in your AP classes and don't have some major meltdown in the next 2 semesters.

Then again, I still have no idea how I got into CS here in the first place, so I might not know what I'm talking about.

I just got in to SCS with an unweighted GPA of 3.5 (but no C's) and slightly higher SAT scores, so its not like your GPA excludes you. If you keep pulling your grades up, and don't get more C's, I'd say you have a good shot, because from what I've seen/heard, SCS looks very favorably on CS related extracurriculars.
