Why I want to go into education field

So, my classes especially math classes are not as strong as the majority, and my extracurricular activities are extensively music based…
Here are some questions I would like to ask…

 1. Do I have legitimate chance of making itto Brown? if my SAT score goes up and maintain 3.97 GPA
 2. Should I take AP biology in place of peer counseling in my senior year?
 3. is self studying AP psychology in senior worth doing? should I go take an introductory psychology class in local community college?

Thank you for your feedback in advance.

if you want to major in something music education related your EC’s are great. other important factors though are rank, which most likely depends on W GPA. your UW GPA is pretty high, but for the most part it doesnt sound like you took very challenging classes. raising your SAT I up to 2250+ would obviously be a good thing, especially considering 1920 to be a pretty low score. you also want to have really good scores on the SAT II tests, and 690 isnt really that great. btw, im pretty sure the SAT scores from may are up already

i’m not sure about my exact rank but I am in top 9% according to a letter I recently received

Chances are very very low. Your biggest hurdle is your class rank. Competitive applicants are typically in the top 1% of the class.

Are you a minority or legacy? If not, then brown will be almost impossible even if you get your sat up to a 2200+.

I’m not as pessimistic as cortana in regards to the top 1% thing. Yes your chances are low – like everyone else who will hit the “submit” button. But your key to a place like Brown will be to tell a compelling story — and boost your SATs.

Good luck.

Not sure where you get this information, as a large portion of the admitted class is in the top 10% but not one of the top two students, though it clearly helps to be in the top 2. More importantly, though, it depends on your school - where do students near your rank and SAT goal typically go? That should give you a sense of what’s likely.
