hi. im currently a sophmore at a somewhat competitive high school.

my current gpa is like 4.6 unweighted. and 4.0 weighted. (i basically have never gotten a b before.. straight a's)

9th grade i took ap bio and honors english
got a 5 on the ap bio test

this year (10th) i had ap euro, ap chem, honors precalc (which basically included ap calc a) and honors english

next year: ap physics, ap lang, ap us and ap calc bc.

i have only taken the SATII for bio and i got a 730...

i really have no solid extracurriculars, although i volunteer 40 hours a year for NHS and Key Club. i am also in NHS and FBLA, on which i plan to become vice-prezz next (jr. year)

will also volunteer some over the summer and this summer i am tutoring kids in summer school as a job.

special circumstnces. i have two disabled brothers and other mental problems within my family. this has caused a lot of problems for me.

ex: can't really go out, wanted to take journalism as a first period but couldn't because my parents couldn't take me.. etc.

safe: csun
match : i am hoping for UCSD or UCSB

reach: stanford ucla or uc berkeley

im also looking at univ. of chicago, NYU, univ of rochester, and columbia (doubtful)

yup. help me out here.

i plan on getting more involved next year ut fear its too late.. since im going to be a jr.

used to do other stuff but quit due to home situation and course load.

i also forgot i am currently 6/about 800 at my school.
asian-american female.

about 80 hours of volunteer hours total so far but planning to volunteer more at a senior center and drunk driving program this upcoming summer

also once attended a UCI summer program where i took law.

You got your GPA’s backwards, but don’t sweat it. It’s 4.0 UW, 4.6 W.
Great GPA’s btw.
Show more leadership roles in your EC’s. You’re still a sophomore so you have plenty of time. At my school, at the end of the year, they have try-outs for certain clubs, ie: MUN. MUN is a great club and hopefully you can climb to the top and be pres of it one day…just join clubs and show leadership roles.
Junior year is key so keep up the straight A’s and you’ll be golden.

Honestly, I wouldn’t really call those special circumstances. Colleges don’t consider that “special”, but I’m not positive. Hopefully other CC’ers will have better insight on that.

UCSD- Match
UCSB-Match
Stanford- Low-Mid Reach, it would be much easier to judge after you take all the SATs and finish up your ECs, etc.
UCLA-Match
Berkley- Could be a match..idk
UofC-Match
NYU- Hard to tell..but low reach - match
Columbia- Quite possible of match

You have a good chance in getting into all those schools. You have great ECs so far, and an exceptionally great GPA. It will be much easier to tell after your SAT scores, etc. Good luck.
