<p>Hey, this is my 2nd year applying to boarding schools, so I'm really anxious to know my chances. I'm a freshman, applying for 10th grade entrance. I'm Chinese. I've only applied to Hotchkiss before, and my English teacher went there. </p>
<p>SPORTS:
I was part of the Varsity Girls Swim Team in the fall. We had practice everyday. I attended Pace University's Stroke Clinic swimming class for three years. So I've done swimming in total for 4 years.
I'm on the Varsity Track and Field Team. This is my 2nd year on track (but the first year, I was on modified in the middle school). Every weekday, some weekends, and during break, we have practice for 1.5 hours, which is 7.5 hours in total per week. I'm a sprinter.
I figure-skated for two years and stopped at freestyle one.
I took Jazz (dance) for four years.</p>
<p>CLUBS:
-Red Ribbon, which is a club that tries to raise awareness and money for AIDS
-Math Team, which meets every Monday
-the Oracle (school newspaper), which meets everyday Monday
-SADD, aka Students Against Drunk Driving</p>
<p>GRADES:
I've been on the High Honor Roll for 4 years. I have had A+ averages in all my classes since 6th grade. (meaning I still have all A+ averages)
I am in Geometry A and Biology A, the most advanced science and math classes for my grade. I have A+'s in both classes.
I received an A+ on my Earth Science and Integrated Algebra Regents. </p>
<p>MUSIC:
I was concertmaster of my school orchestra every year until this year. I am the youngest member and only 9th grader that was selected to be in my school's top-level string orchestra this year (and am still in 1st violin).
I was chosen to be part of the Junior Strings Orchestra of the Greater Westchester Youth Orchestra Association after only having private lessons for 3 months. This is my fourth year and I am a first violin. The orchestra meets every Monday for 1.5 hours. With them, I have played at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Kendall-on-Hudson, a retirement community, every year.
I was selected to participate in the Westchester All County Orchestra Festival for two years.
I am level six on NYSSMA for the violin. On level five, I received a score of 98 for NYSSMA.
I played piano for five years and was NYSSMA level five.</p>
<p>AWARDS: orchestra awards for my performance and mentoring in the school orchestra, getting a high rating on Violin NYSSMA Level IV and V, and being selected to perform in the WCSMA All-County Orchestra Festival for two years. I also received 3 Language Arts awards for excellence in skills and outstanding achievement, a science award for outstanding achievement, 2 awards for perfect homework, a foreign language award for outstanding academic achievement in Spanish, a math award for outstanding achievement, and a perfect attendance award.</p>
<p>EXTRA:
I qualified John Hopkins' Center for Talented Youth Summer Camp and attended it for three years. I took the courses Introduction to Robotics, Logic: Principles of Reasoning, and Probability and Game Theory.
I attended Northern Westchester Chinese School for five years every Saturday.</p>
