I’m starting to panic, because I had really hope to get admitted to at least one of these match schools. However, I got rejected from UIUC, deffered from Georgia Tech, and haven’t gotten the chancellor’s invite from UCSB or gotten regents at any UC while I’ve noticed many of my friends getting the same. I thought my stats and application was decent (not amazing, but alright) and good enough to get into one of these schools, but I’m starting to think it isn’t so. Am I correct? Should I settle for Purdue?

Is that 4.24 weighted GPA including 9th-11th grades, or is that your UC GPA (10th-11th)? If the latter, a 4.24 isn’t competitive for UCB and UCLA L&S, let alone Computer Science.

I very surprised that you got deferred from Georgia Tech and rejected from UIUC. Your Application and stats look very good. Maybe They thought they were too good for their schools or figured because ur grades are good that you were just applying there as a backup. I think you can definitely get into University Of Michigan, and possibly for Berkley and Southern California. However, schools in California are becoming very competitive.
Good luck! hope i helped

I applied to CS at the L+S at both of these schools. My UC GPA is 4.17 for 10 + 11, and I believe the cap is 4.19. Unless you are chinese, our school deos not offer any weighted classes in freshman year :(. My overall hs weighted is 4.32 (including senior year), and 4.42 excluding the cap for 10th and 11. I’m not sure what metric they use.

Your 4.42 uncapped UC GPA should be competitive for UCB and UCLA L&S. Did you apply to the Linguistics/CS major for UCLA? That’s the only CS-like major they have in L&S.

Sorry, I said it all wrong. At Berkeley, I applied for L&S CS, at LA I didn’t apply for L&S because when we went on the tours they said all the majors were not impacted or something.
