Other info (that probably makes things harder):
White, jewish, from new york(got to love the lesser tuition, though!)
HS is good but not as competitive as bigger local schools. So we're not really on the "radar" with the exception of a few kids each year

Teacher recs:
Very heartfelt one from french teacher. Have been in his class since 7th grade. Should be a really personal letter

Also getting one from my ap stat teacher, bc I am definitely interested in continuing my stat studies and I know that is one division of the ILR curriculum.

Essays: not worried. But everyone says that.

As a state resident ED, you’re fine. See you on campus next year.

I think you are a very good canidate & have an excellent chance of admission. Don’t get too excited about the “lesser tuition”, total cost is still approx. $37,000 per year but no merit aid, just need based. If your family income is over $150,000 you likely won’t get any aid.

Cheaper than full pay in A&S or at a comparable school…

…can’t speak for everyone but in our case our D would have gotten aid for the endowed schools that would have gotten price down to near contract college cost. We’re in that $150,000 - $175,000 income range. Just wanted to make sure that the OP didn’t have the misperception, that i often run into, that the contract colleges are SUNY’s with SUNY tuition.

have definitely done my research, but thank you csdad

you’ll definitely get in.
do new jersey kids have as good (or almost) a chance as NY kids…?

anyone else have any thoughts? i’ve submitted everything so now i just have to sit & wait

I’m willing to say 90% chance of getting in ED.

your stats are solid, worried94. do you have any SAT I scores to show though?

My daughter spent the summer at cornell and met with an admission counselor at ILR. It all comes down to your essay. That is all that matters to them because everyone has the same stats as you. If you did not completely answer the question then you will be done. Hopefully you did just that. Good Luck

PS my daughter applied ED as well. She aced her psych. class with the head of the Dept at Cornell and she had legacy.

xceagles - i only sent my act scores. my sat was 2130 (1380) so i figured even though people might think less of the act, a 35 certainly outshines a 2130 any day.

orthomab - my english (college essay writing) teacher really liked my ilr essay. in that and my common app long i tried to show who i am as a person without having to overemphasize my academic achievements that they already know from other parts of my application.

The ILR admissions only want to see how you can answer the question. I am sure that you wrote a good essay but did you fully answer the question. It was not easy to do.

I think you need to submit all of your scores Act and Sat.

My bad you can submit one or the other

You needed to take Sat II in math for ILR.

Summary of ILR-Specific Requirements for Freshman Applicants
All freshman applicants should submit scores from the SAT Reasoning Test and the SAT II in math (any level).

^he’s right, get on top of that if you haven’t already

you can submit: SAT I and math SAT II… OR just ACT with writing. trust me, I checked 400 times. thanks though

straight from admissions website under the sat subject tests section of first-year applicant check list “Industrial and Labor Relations: mathematics (any level); ACT test takers exempt from Subject Test requirement”

I hate to brake it to you but you needed to take the Sat II . The came off the website from Cornell’s admissions requirements.

Industrial and
Labor Relations
16 units, including 4 of English
and 3 of mathematics
Also recommended: additional
mathematics
• SAT or the ACT with Writing
• SAT Subject Test required in
mathematics (any level)
• ACT test takers exempt from
Subject Test requirement
• International Students: TOEFL
or IELTS

Yes it does say that but I would call the admissions office to double confirm.
