Chance me please! Thanks!

I'm in the class of 2014, and I'm going to be a junior next year. I live in SoCal and my major will probably be Computer Engineering.

Also, since I know freshmen year doesn't really matter, I won't be posting my grades for it. I got a 3.8 GPA though if that matters.

W/UW: 3.8 GPA. So far.

Sophomore First Semester:
Spanish 2: B
World History: A
Tennis: A
English 2: A
Chemistry: A
Algebra 2 Trig: A

Sophomore Second Semester:
Spanish 2: B
World History: A
Tennis: A
English 2: A
Chemistry: A
Algebra 2 Trig: A

I'm studying really hard on the SAT and plan on getting at least a 2000+ on the SAT, and in my Junior year I'll be taking:
Spanish 3
APUSH
Physics
Tennis
English 3
Pre-Calc

I'm still considering if I should take Physics or AP Physics. My friends that are already in UC's say that it's better to just take regular classes and get a good GPA than taking AP classes and getting a C or something. Also, if I take AP Physics, I know that you need some Calculus to do well in that class.

What do you guys think? I appreciate the feedback! Thank you!

It’s kind of hard to say without having junior year grades too. I think you should try to take AP Physics. I assume you’re talking about AP Phys. B, and for that you don’t need to know calc, at least for my high school. Yeah, a C in that class wouldn’t look good. A B wouldn’t be that bad though. If you could take AP English, you should do that too. UCSD was supposed to switch to a ‘holistic’ admissions policy so your extracurriculars count more now.

Hard to say. Good luck

I am currently and incoming freshman taking Comp Sci.
Let me tell you, I definitely do not fit the cap for comp sci.
I mainly got A’s and B’s in honors and AP classes, but my SAT was about 1650 and my ACT was 24. I got waitlisted from Davis, accepted into Irvine, rejected to Santa Barbara.

For me, it was just luck getting into San Diego. I believe I only got in because I’m a female, and there’s a lack of female comp sci engineers.

Good luck!
