If you're not sure about rice , what are my chances at carnegie mellon, swarthmore, Cornell, Johns hopkins, emory, univ of chicago, Vanderbilt, washington univ at st.louis, and william and mary?

it will be close, great test scores, but the gpa is a little weak. The orchestra accomplishment might push you over the top. You should get into some of these schools that you listed.

Why is your GPA low? Is it in upward or downward trend?

If you apply ED, visited campus and completed your interview, you may have an even chance.

It really doesn’t matter if your in or out of state for Rice. I think that Rice is a reach for your because of your GPA, but your SATs are quite good! Apply and find out!

Good things: Female Physics, SAT I and ACT
Not so good things: Asian, Math 2 Subject test (710 on math 2 is low) and UWGPA

Rice: Reach (You need to request an interview)
Swarthmore: Reach (I think you need to show ‘love’)
Cornell: Reach
Johns Hopkins: Reach (You need to request an interview)
Chicago: Reach (Essay, essay, essay…)
Vanderbilt: Reach

Add few LACs with low Asian population.
