Chance me please! uci is my dream school!

<p>I'm a senior applying for fall 2015 as a comp sci major.</p>

<p>my weighted gpa is a 4.12
my unweighted gpa is a 3.76
4 years of japanese language
4 years in vocal ensemble/performing arts
2 years of volleyball
my sat is a 1540 with 480 critical reading/ 590 math/ 470 critical writing
Coming from a low income family approximately-$20,000 a year
Extracurriculars: club volleyball, vocal lessons, volunteered at Memorial Hospital, my community's church, and LA river clean ups (50+ hours altogether).
Awards: Japanese National Honor Society, Pursuit of excellence, MVP volleyball JV, and Most Improved sprinter Track and Field JV.
Clubs: Ball for life officer - host basketball tournaments/fundraisers on the weekend and donate money to charity
Helping hands secretary- Club devoted to environmental clean ups and volunteering </p>

<p>Your GPA is competitive but SAT too low. Average SAT for UCI was 1867. Since you are applying for CS which is one of the more competitive majors, you need both SAT and GPA above average.<br>
I suggest you retake SAT if possible.</p>

I had a high GPA but a very low SAT and I got in :smiley: don’t lose hope!

You’re gonna need a higher sat. I was waitlisted as a comp sci major with a 4.6 gpa and 1900 sat.

alright guys thanks for the responses, i wont get my hopes up but i also really wanted to go there. I’m pretty sure ill be happy at the other schools i got accepted into. Do they consider my ethnic background or economic status? I hope there’s a chance for me

UC’s cannot use affirmative action for admissions as it is illegal to admit on the basis of race. Your SAT score is really too low for Irvine.
