I have applied to all the UCs (excluding Merced), SJSU, and Cal Poly SLO.
I'm mostly interested in attending UC Irvine or SD.

Korean American female in 12th grade (will probably hurt me considering the myriad of Koreans who attend UCI -_-)
Living in Cupertino and attending a top 100 ranked high school in the U.S...

UW GPA: 3.6
W/UC GPA: 3.74

SAT I: 2060
SAT IIs: Math 2 - 590 (fail), Literature - 630 (a little less fail)

Extracurriculars include 4 clubs (VP for one of them), 100+ volunteer hours, ACLU youth action committee, a job at Yogurtland since April 09, yaddayaddayadda.

My transcript shows an upward trend in my grades (from a 3.3/2.8 for freshman year to a 3.8/4.0 for junior year). Reasons why are included in my personal statements, which I feel I did a pretty darn good job on.

By the end of senior year, I will have completed 4 community college courses (all UC-transferable courses, 2 of which I am currently taking), 2 AP courses (my school doesn't offer very many), and 1 honors course.

If I am rejected from UCI, I will most likely appeal... I know that they say you must provide admissions with new information in order to be reconsidered, but all that I have so far is that my 1st semester senior year GPA came out to be a weighted 4.25. This kind of improvement will probably not change their minds though :/

Good qulifications, but your math sat is low for some of the UC’s…

Cal Poly SLO reach because of your math SAT score
UC Berkley also a reach for the same reason above
UC Irvine you seem to have a good chance,
SD you have a good chance as well
All other UC’s high match

I forgot to add that I applied to all of the UCs as either an undeclared Humanities or an undeclared Social Science major. I applied to SLO and SJSU as a Sociology major.

Oh, in that case you match them all your stats are awesome… I thought engineering but thanks for the clarification, please chance me back… good luck

While your UC GPA is below UC’s average, our SAT is considerably above it. You certainly have a shot. All of the UCs are accepting fewer freshmen this year and all are trying for more OOS students because they need the money. Berkeley is doubling the number of OOS students, though schools like UCI have a much harder time finding people willing to pay $50K/yr.

All of this is to say that all beets are off at UCs this year. There’s less space and they will be more competitive. Expect numbers to go up from last year’s:

lol hey :). Do you happen to go to monta vista >.< (off topic) lol I’m applying to pretty much the same schools as u cept all the UC and 2 extra CSU >.<.

You should be pretty much in for UCR UCSC.
UCD luvs high number so >.<
UCSB likes a good essay i hear
UCSD loves bigger number
UCLA UCB pray like me >.<.
SJSU u should get in and Cal Poly SLO doesnt count ur writing SAT I score so iono wat ur actual SAT score is >.< but u should have a decent chance

Btw chance mine too plz uhh iono how to copy paste threads …-.- but it should be on the first page of this whole thread >.<

I actually go to Lynbrook High School, but I have a lot of friends who go to MV. It’s really nerve wracking here because 3 students have already gotten into Stanford ED, and countless others have gotten accepted at Columbia, Yale, UChicago, etc… so I’m just imagining how many peers from my school, in addition to all the other schools in the nation, will take spots at the UCs >_<

It would have been better if you took a more writing-intensive SAT test, I think (I mean, it’s better to get 700something on, say, SAT world history even though you’re not really looking into humanities than a 590 on math iic)

I kiinnndd of know how your school works and you’re probably right in that there are a lot of people applying to uci from lhs. However, the UCs do recognize your school as a pretty dang hard one so GPA-wise you won’t be in much of a rut (it also shot upwards after freshman year, which is a noteworthy aspect of your application.)

If your 4 clubs seem to show some kind of set interest (not just the polar bear club to the baking club etc etc) I think that would also help your app, though Im not sure how much it would help UCs. They’re more number based since they receive so many applications, so with your GPA from a top ranking high school in california, you will probably be a match for UCI. I think for UCs like LA and B you might have more of a reach going for you. SD I don’t quite know very well.

Not the most experienced chance post right here, but hopefully it was something (:
