MCA: 4621 (Out of 5000)

GRADES:
UC GPA :
3.75UW 4.3W 4.05W and Capped
Regular GPA:
3.7UW 4.17W as you can see my freshman year really screwed me over.
Have Taken 11 AP Classes
Huge Upward Trend (Went from a 3.7 W Freshman Year GPA to a 4.17 Sophomore Year to 4.33 W GPA Junior Year to a projected 4.5 GPA Senior Year. )
Moved halfway across the country so I have a pretty decent excuse for freshman year, also went deaf in one of my ears.

SCHOOLS:
Here is my current list:
UCLA (In-State)
UCSD (In-State)
UCI (In-State)
UCSB (In-State)
Cal Poly SLO (In-State)
NYU (applying undecided) (APPLIED ED)
Baboon College (APPLIED EA)
UT Austin (Out-of-State)
USC (In-State)
UNC Chapel Hill (Out-of-State)
U Mish Ann Arbor (Out-of-State)
Bentley College (APPLIED EA)
(If you could put in the order of Safety, Match, and Reach)

Will chance back if you would like!

Your gpa was a little low freshman year, but there is an overall upwards trend of improvement; plus like you said you DO have an excuse- which colleges do take into account. I think you have a good chance at the UC’s your scores seem fine and your are in-state. for UNC it is a little bit harder- they only accept 18% of out of states (i’m applying as well haha). The only other thing you should take into account is whether the school superscores ACT- I know a couple schools that superscore SAT but not ACT, so you should check up on that. Otherwise you’ll definitely get into most of the schools in your list. Goodluck! Please chance me back

@paxer101 can you put it into Safety Match Reach Format? IE:
Safety:
UCSC
Match:
UCSD
Reach:
UCLA
(Of course with colleges you believe will fit into each of these sections)

reach:
UNC (only b/c out of state)
UCLA
USC
match:
UCI
NYU
UMICH S
UCSD
UCSB
safety:
Cal Poly
Baboon College
UT Austin
Bentley College

@paxer101 When you wrote UMICH S you meant University of Michigan Ann Arbor right? The one with the 29% acceptance rate not UMICH State (I thought UMICH Ann Arbor would be a reach or mid match sort of thing for me). Same thing for Cal Poly you mean Cal Poly SLO not Ponama right, only confused because I thought Cal Poly was more of a match not a safety .I figured UNC would be a reach because I am out-of-state.

I am mainly crossing my fingers for UT Austin, Babson, Cal Poly SLO, NYU, UMICH, and UCSD. The list you gave me is pretty typical to what others have said other then some say UCSD is in the middle between a match and a reach because of my UC GPA. I have a feeling i will get into atlas one of these lol.

Also not sure if this is noteworthy but we have donated close to 10-15k to babson (babson being a small liberal arts college with a pretty small endowment not sure if this will help me even more)

Yeah Umich at ann arbor- I’m also applying and they take a pretty large chunk of students from cali.(mich state would be a safety for you- it was a typo sorry. ) For Cal poly and my experience with it, unless your’re applying for engineering or computers it’s not as hard as people think ( my friend got in with a 30 act and a 4.2 gpa). Once again with UCSD- it’s the same as cal poly where unless your applying to specific majors- comp sci or pre med, it shouldn’t be a huge problem- plus you have an advantage being instate.
Judging from your username I’m guessing you want to go to stern? For that, it’s really difficult so I think it’s really smart that you’re applying undecided. The only other thing is that your’re from cali. I know that schools farther away from where you live tend to be more stingy because they’re not sure if you’d really fly there just to attend school. (basically me and ucb cause I’m a new yorker)

@paxer101 I get where you’re coming from and I don’t want to go to Stern my oldest brother made this account for me because my computer wasn’t working and he goes to Stern lol. I guess you’re right for the major I’m applying with the acceptance rate is about 60% at Cal Poly. I have a pretty big advantage as well because A-'s count as a 4.0 here in California for our state schools (and for our public high schools ) Im applying to NYU mainly because I love the campus and the atmosphere, and incase I do want to go to stern if I change my mind, I might just go on the path my brother did which was to have his prof write a rec letter for him to go to Stern.

up

@paxer101 Wait looking at some of your rankings t seems as if the UT austin is more of a match then a safety.

Reach
UCLA (In-State)(only because notoriously hard to get into, still have a solid chance imo)
UT Austin (Out-of-State)(Only because of out of state)
UNC Chapel Hill (Out-of-State)(Only Because out of State)
USC (In-State)(only because notoriously hard to get into, still have a solid chance imo)
Match
UCSD (In-State)
U Mish Ann Arbor (Out-of-State)
Cal Poly SLO (In-State)
Safety
UCI (In-State)
UCSB (In-State)

@uchopeful69 thanks, I didn’t think U Mish Ann Arbor was a match because I was OOS, is it easier to get into OOS? Also I updated the post I made on you. I know its easier to get into UCs in state, so that made me happier.

IT SHOULD SAY BABSON COLLEGE NOT BABOON IN OP AUTOCORRECT’S FAULT.

@sterny16 UT Austin has to admit a very high percentage of their students from the state of Austin, UNC may also have something like that but I’m really not sure, they may be a match. From my understanding Michigan doesn’t have a standard to fill like Texas and your stats seem to be in the range of Michigan so I believe that fits better as a match. best of luck!

@uchopeful69 True just looked it up. Thank you for your input! Good luck to you next year when you are going to be applying to colleges! Also helps that UC’s and U of M consider grade trend and should see that from my terrible freshman year 1 semester to my amazing 2nd semester.

Just got my transcript here is my UW and W GPA:
UW GPA: 3.76
W GPA: 4.32
ACT: 31 (33 Superscored)
Sorry about the mistakes.
