Hi guys. This is my first post and I just wanted to know if I'll get into UCSB for next fall. I was also wondering what are my chances of being accepted into the other UC's as well, if people have the time.

I know there are many debates about high school transfers and cc transfers, but I just want the answer to my question. I worked my butt off at my cc and my GPA went down from a 3.6 because in the summer I took two high stakes classes and had to miss a class meeting each because I went on a missions trip. By the way, the classes only met 6 times...So with that being said, here's what I have.

Major: Psychology
Year: Second Year
Transferable GPA: 3.51
Transferable units completed: 47
Transferable Units completed prior to Spring: 60
IGETC: All will be done prior to Spring, only classes left are my science with a lab, my transferable math, and 5 more units. The transferable math, which will be done in the winter session, is the only thing I'm really worried about in this section. I'm already signed up for all the classes I need to finish IGETC prior to Spring and I even made an appeal to take more units than the maximum amount.
Pre-requisites for Psychology at UCSB: All done prior to spring except Calculus. I can finish pre-calc by the end of Spring, but I don't know if this will affect my chances. I was told that I can take Calc over there, but once again, I don't know if this will affect my chances of admissions.
Transfer Programs: None
Other: I'm in an academic honor society at school, my extra circulars are solid, and I didn't have a job during my time at my CC.

Even with your decline over the Summer I think your GPA is still competitive for UCSB and less selective UCs like UCSC, UCR and UCM. UCLA and UCB will be reaches. I think your biggest problem is your math situation. Most UCs are pretty strict on the requirement that IGETC English and Math courses be completed by the end of the Fall of the year before you intend to transfer. If you can finish and have a grade posted for your transferable math class by the end of January they may accept it. If not, there is a very real possibility you will be rejected for not having completed your math requirement in a timely manner.

As for the Calculus course, since that is a prerequisite for your major you will probably not be rejected for not having completed it by the time you transfer. However, the UCs prefer transfer students to have completed as many prerequisites as possible at their cc before transfer so it could put you at a competitive disadvantage in relation to other applicants who have already completed all their prerequisites for majoring in Psychology.

Well I just updated my UC application online and it now says stats, intro to chem, and computer information system are all in progress. I also wrote that I’m taking the transferable math so late because of budget cuts and that I received an A in my non-transferable math course that I took for Fall 2010. I also mentioned that I’m taking 13 units this intersession even though the maximum is 8 and that my precalc and theater arts classes are planned for Spring 2011.

I’ve read that some people get the acceptance letter but are on strict terms if they do not complete the work on time, but everything will be done by Feb. 19th and grades will come out at the latest by the 23rd.
