chance me please!!!! UF,,,,go gators!!!!

Hi,
Hoping someone would be able to chance me. Applying for Summer, 2012 Admission. In State

3.95 UF weighted GPA
1900 SAT
29 ACT
over 200 hours of community service
National Honor society
AICE Diploma
STEM program
14 AP/AICE/Honors courses (will have 19 when done with senior year)
Senior year schedule will be 4 AP/1 Honors/ yearbook class

Great essay already written....hoping to apply in August.

Looks pretty good to me, then again, I’m no expert. Come to think of it, I don’t even know what my UF weighted GPA was.

I’m curious though, are you from South Florida?

yes, from south florida. Why do you ask?

The course load looks quite similar to my high school… You aren’t from Boca High are you?

I think you’re fine. Maybe do some clubs or sports during fall next year so you can buff up your app a bit. But it looks good to me, I had friends get in with less.

I got in… similar. You’ll be fine. Good Luck.

Apply in July. It pays to be early…

^Especially when it comes to housing choice! Get that initial payment in as soon as possible!

yes, I am from Boca High.

UF really seems to like top 10%. What’s your rank?

@psedurandom! I can’t tell applicants that enough!!! My cousin is applying this year and she says she will put it off until september… and i’m like nOO!O!!! I had one of the earliest housing dates because I applied so early. Early bird catches the worm!

Goood Luck Hghschjunior!

Im 116 out of 666 (16%) as of last quarter, dont know where i fit in as of the end of junior year.

Im in the STEM program, which is a very competitive program within the high school. There are about 250 kids in each grade within that program. All of us take mostly AP/AICE/Honors classes. As I said previously, I will have 19 of those classes at the end of senior year which works out to be 82% of my classes. So I’m somewhere within the middle of those kids as Im guessing they carry the highest hpa’s in the school.

I know I’m not being much of a help, since I don’t have any real numbers to give you but, just to put it in perspective, out of everyone who applied, I’ve only heard of about four people from Boca High who weren’t admitted (that’s just what I’ve heard about, though).

Well thats encouraging, are you a senior now. We probably know each other if you are in the stem program.

I just graduated

Well great, good luck to you at UF. Im going up in 2 weeks to visit uf and fsu. Are you starting in the summer?

For those trying to assess their chances for admission to the University of Florida for 2012 (Class of 2016) the admission statistics for 2011 were as follows:

Number of applications: 29,269
Total Number admitted for Fall 2011, Summer B 2011 and Spring 2012: 11,423
Number admitted for Fall 2011:approximately: 8,300
Total number of places in Freshman class: 6,400
Mean GPA for Class of 2015: 4.30
Mean SAT (Combined CR & M): 1963
Mean ACT Composite Score: 30
Percent of admitted students/Number of applications received: 38%

Out of State admissions are capped at a maximum of 3% of total class, However that percentage has been actually less. Admission is considerably more difficult for OOS students.

At current projected pace of applications there should be 31,000 to 32,000 applications for the class of 2016 (based on average increase over the last 3-4 years) At that level of apllications and a projected class size of 6,400 effective admission rate will be around 36%.

@ Danielle

You meant that the average SAT includes Writing, correct?

Yes. The mean SAT score was 1963. A very large percentage of those admitted qualified for the Bright Futures Academic Scholar Scholarship (currently combined CR & M) of 1270. This figure for Bright Futures Academic Scholar Scholarship will be increasing by 20 points phased in over the next few years. Given the extreme pressure for the 6,400 freshman admission slots current projections for the number of applications should reach atleast 31,000 next year with an admission acceptance rate of 36-37%. For 2011 the acceptance rate was 38%.
