Chance Me Please - UM, Berkeley, and USC

Hey everyone! I just want to know my chances of getting into the University of Michigan, UC Berkeley, and the University of Southern California. For Michigan, I applied early action for preferred admission to Ross, and for USC and Berkeley I applied RD.

Stats:
GPA: Weighted, 4.34. Unweighted, I don't know. My school doesn't do UW GPAs and I don't know how to calculate it. I got a B+ in Honors Algebra Two my sophomore year but other than that all my other grades have been A's/A+'s/A-'s. I'm in the top 10% of my class of 340.

ACT: Composite-33. Science-33. Reading-31. Math-31. English-35.

I've taken all honors/AP courses besides academic geometry and academic calculus. My APs are APUSH (4 on test), Bio (4 on test), English Lang (5 on test), and this year the APs I'm taking are Stats, Econ, Environmental Science, and Spanish. I took two sciences (AP Bio and honors physics) my junior year and two maths (AP Stats and academic calculus) this year.

I have loads of extracurriculars. Some are that I play varsity men's volleyball and I played JV tennis as an underclassmen. I'm also president of a club called Best Buddies, which works with mentally and physically handicapped students. During the summer I've worked as a lifeguard and a waiter. I did fill out all ten spots for the extracurriculars and all five of the honors spots.

Essays: Common App was about the 2004 tsunami in Thailand (I was there) and I wrote about Best Buddies as an activity. My Ross essay was strong except when I went back to read it I accidentally said MBA instead of BBA... Dumb, I know.

My dad and my two older sisters go to Michigan, and both my dad and one of my sisters went to/is attending Ross.

Thanks everyone! Good luck with your acceptances!

Also, I’m in NHS and Spanish Honors Society and a few of my honors are international

UM- match
Berkeley- match
USC- why?

University of Southern California, not South Carolina. I’m not sure if that makes a difference. I love their business program!

UM-Match, I know guys with far worse stats than you who have gotten in, I wouldn’t worry if I were you
USC- Match
UC- Match

You should get into all of them based on your essay, sounds very interesting and unique.

I think you have a really good shot at Michigan and USC. UC Berkeley is a little bit more of a reach, but still could happen!

For my Berkeley essays I wrote about my desire to help others because I feel the need to give back to the world since it has been so kind to me. I heard from a lot of people that Berkeley is big on service to others. Just in case anyone else wants to chance me for my other schools, I’ve also applied to Boston College, UCLA, Wash U in St. Louis, and UVA (Early Decision on UVA)

Does anyone know how much summer programs like National/Global Young Leaders Conference help?

UM, match
USC, low reach
Berkeley, high match
I think the program helps if it somehow relates to your essays or what your goals are blah blah. Yea lol :p

Thanks! And for anyone else, I’ll chance you back!

UMI Ross: Match
USC: Match/High match (depends on whether you applied to Marshall or not; you don’t look like a SCA applicant)
Berkeley Haas: Match

Thank you! Yeah I applied to Marshall not SCA

Michigan: Mid-high match
Berkeley: Low reach
USC: Low reach

Based on what I’ve seen in other posts, I thought I should include this information haha. My school is public and is in the top five public high schools in PA. I wrote a few of my essays on dealing with obsessive compulsive disorder and my diagnosis so I don’t know if that would make me look like a student that has overcome adversity or whatever but I felt I should include it. Also I’m a white male.

UM- Match, if not a high safety
USC and Berkeley: Low Reach

Oh my god, I accidentally said MBA instead of BBA as well! Hopefully, the admissions office doesn’t notice!
