I think you will get accepted.

I think your GPA will keep you out of all the UCs but Merced and Sata Cruz. Be sure to have some options.

^ I agree

UC Riverside- match
UCSB, UCI, UCD -low reach
UCSD- reach
UCLA, UCB- high reach

Your GPA is on the low side for many of these. UCSC would also be a match I think. If you could get your test scores up a little it might help balance the GPA.

BTW- you have very good stats so don’t get discouraged!!! It’s just that the UC’s have become so competitive and they are letting in more and more OOS students who will pay more. One thing in your favor is that the number of applicants to the UC’s is predicted to start declining so maybe the bar will drop a bit next year!

Oh wow but do u think im in for uci or ucsb? i hope my xtra currics and sat score would overlook my gpa. Will admissions officers overlook it?

The UC’s are all a reach except for UCSC. Admissions officers will not overlook GPA.

OP-
What’s your intended major?

im applying as a history major

oh and im new to here, so what do you guys mean by reach and what not

I have almost the same stats as you.
Would I have a chance with a 3.75 UC GPA, 3.8w,3.5UW GPA?

I would definitely say you have chances at UCI and UCR. Are you applying to Merced? That’s also a match.

UCSB, UCD, and UCSD will be difficult. I would definitely apply to them if you can afford the admission fee. But don’t expect much, it’s most likely a low reach-reach for most of them.

UCB and UCLA will be near impossible. That’s up to you if you want to apply, though there will be an overwhelming number of applicants for those two schools that have higher statistics than you.

Since you’re a senior, there isn’t much to do but hope for the best! I’d work on taking one more SAT/ACT - if you can break 2000, maybe hit 2100, it will alleviate some of your low GPA. Also write great essays! Refine, edit, get them checked over. Don’t stress too much about your overall stats, you just need to focus on your current classes and do what you can do. Best of luck!

wow a few ppl told me that id get in to sb or davis bc of my sat scores and extra curriculars. So is my gpa alot more important for admissions there?

They look at both GPA and test scores. Unfortunately fort you, way more people applied for 2013 than the UC’s had room for, and a huge number of them had higher GPA’s/test scores than you. So it comes down to accepting the most qualified first. Those in the top 9% of their class qualify for guaranteed admission to a UC, however it may not be the UC of your choosing- sometimes ends up being Riverside or Merced. You do not appear to fall into the 9% category so have no guaranteed admission. Just make sure to have some back-ups!

As far as reach, low reach, etc:
UCB, UCLA- high reach means very little chance

UCSD-reach means probably not

UCI, UCSB, UCD- low reach means possible depending on how competitive the applicant pool is

UCR, UCSC, UCM-match means very good chance
