Chance me please! University of Michigan

Hello! I really really want to go here and was wondering if others thought I'd get in.

GPA: 3.9 (I transferred schools, their converting it to their scale since my old school was different-but the only way it can go is up since my last school had a harder scale)
ACT: 27 (yeah, it's lower than their average- I'm retaking), Writing: 10

Social Studies/History: 4.5 years of courses
Math: 4 years
Science: 5 years
English: 4 years
Foreign Language: 6 years
Religion: 3 (went to a parochial school previously)
Choir: 4

EC's:

Piano

Volunteer:

Teacher's Assistant at Summer School
Pregnancy Counseling Center
Church- I'm their pianist, and I help with their Sunday School

I am dual enrolled at a community college and taking German, and Physical Geology

AP's (my old school didn't have any but the one's I have now are:) Government, English
Taking Latin AP exam as well (I took it for 3 years at old school)

Do I have a reasonable chance? Or a "you can apply but don't expect much" kind of chance? Thank you!

Where is your home state? Is that GPA weighted or unweighted?
I am sorry to tell you that your current ACT score is not only below the average. It is indeed far below even the 25th percentile at 30 for UMich. You definitely should retake ACT if you want to try UMich. Otherwise, it would be a high reach for you.

Oh whoops- it’s not weighted, my home state is MI

Great. Then your GPA is okay and you just need to bring your ACT up 2-3 points to make it a high match for in state.

Thanks  yeah I figured that would probs be the case

I would say you have a pretty good chance. I’d say accepted if they like you and how you convey yourself in your essays as long as you’re applying to LSA. College of engineering : I say barely any chance
