DO I have a chance in my top 6?

Class rank?

Your SAT barely breaks 2000, and your ACT is below 30, which are both way too low for Stanford, MIT, and CalTech.

Assuming you can pull your SAT to around 2200, and score 700+ (750+ would be better) on your SAT II's, I'd say Stanford, MIT, and CalTech are your reaches, while the rest are high matches or below.

SAT scores are too low for Stanford, MIT (esp. math score), Caltech, and cornell, especially for an Asian. Good luck though.

Even with a great essay.. Is it impossible?

and what about schools like harvey mudd and copper union?

Your SAT I scores really cut you from MIT, Stanford, Cornell, Caltech, Cooper Union, Harvey Mudd.

Most people with those SAT's, assuming you don't score better, don't get into those schools unless they have recruit-worthy athletics or have good connections.

impossible??

You have a LOT of reaches.

Not going to comment on UC schools, but evertything is high reach to reach, with exception of Michigan, low reach. Mudd/Stanford/Cal Tech/Columbia imo are all dead.

i think that this point, you should look for more safeties

because honestly, lookng at your current profile, id say youll be rejected from all but 1-3 (defin. at all the ivies, Stan+MIT+Cooper+ maybe Umich low reach)

Well, you keep asking us if it's 'impossible' for you to gain admission to one or two of your high reaches. For all effects, the answer is pretty much 'yes'. College admissions can sometimes seem a bit arbitrary, but they aren't a lottery, so you should consider adding some more matches and safeties to your school.

"Even with a great essay.. Is it impossible?"

NOTHING is impossible.

I just thought I would like to post ont he schools I got into:

Accepted:
All the UC's,
USC
Cooper Union
Harvey Mudd
Cornell

Waitlist:
MIT
Columbia
Michigan

Rejected:
Stanford
Cal tech

I only got rejected by 2 :)

Wow thats awesome. Did you retake the SATs/ACTs?

nope.. lol....

I remembered reading all the comments and feeling so bad..

Congratulations! :) Do you know where you're going to school?

Well you did have good grades and ECs, just a bit shaky on standardized tests. But I guess your case just goes on to show that SATs are not that important in college admissions now.

omg you give me hope!

i hope you get out of waitlist from mit

Well, I think colleges are looking more for people with passion, some human qualities that are unique.. (except for Cal tech.. I think my SAT's hurt me there)

and I'm so happy I gave you hope! You'll do well where ever you go as long you're driven.

And I'd be nice to get off the waitlist from MIT. That would mean everything to me.

So far I have chosen to go to Cooper Union... right choice?
