Guys, this is my first post on CC and I really need some advice....

I just got my Dec SAT Score...A huge disappointment...
I was hoping a 1950+ but only got a 1840 (superscore:1860)
CR 540 ; Writing 560 (Essay 6...really sucks) ; Math 740
and I am applying for schools following:

UC Berkeley / Los Angeles / Davis / San Diego / Santa Barbara / Irvine
U of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Penn State U - University Park (results might come out in a few days)
U of Washington - Seattle
U of Michigan
U of Wisconsin - Madison

Other things about me:
Asian male, Born in CA, have US citizenship but live and study in Taiwan.
High School: Public, top in Taiwan, no class rank, no AP or Honor classes.
ECs: Some, but not prominent (Formed Board Game Club, attended some school contests
but no awards...etc.)
TOEFL: 97
SAT2: Math 2:720 ; Biology E:670 ; Math 1 :690
Essays: OK, average IMO
Major: Biology / Biochemistry

Please chance me, I definitely need some help!!! !!! Thank you :)

Me too, huge disappoinment. I was hoping for 2100+ but got 1970 I have similar SAT II scores as well. I’m also applying to Penn State and Wisconsin Madison. Good luck!

GPA: Senior score not available yet, roughly 3.3 ~3.4 I think.
My parents ask me to delete one of “Most Impossible School” (except Penn State and UCs) from the list That is why it is really urgent to me…

Ok then I would say:
Illinois: High Match
Penn State: High Match
Washington: Match/ High Match
Wisconsion: High Match
Michigan: reach, it’s unrealistic with your GPA and SAT, if you have to drop one, this is the one I would advise.
I don’t really know the UCs so I can’t give much input in them.

How are your grades, even if there is no rank?

Illinois: High Match
Penn State: Match
Washington: Match
Wisconsin: Low reach
Michigan: reach
Cal, UCLA: Unrealistic
UCSD: low reach
UCI, UCSB, UCD: high match

My grades are kind of low, estimating top 50% in my class.
I got some Bs in Sophomore and Junior year, that’s because our school is picky on giving high grades… (80up is an A) though I know it cannot be an excuse. Sigh.

I would say your chances at UC Davis, Michigan, and Madison are very low as well. I would drop UMichigan from your list. It just isn’t going to happen.

I would cut out any UC’s, no offense. I know many kids who get rejected from Irvine and SB with equal SAT, AP classes, and in-state. International pool for them is very small and very competitive. They like the money of International kids, but still higher standards…I don’t know about any other schools though.
