Chance me please, weak SAT but strong courseload

Hello, I am applying to Carnegie Mellon, Lehigh, Villanova, TCNJ, Rutgers and Cornell all for mechanical engineering. My SAT scores are pretty weak, but my courseload shows an upward curve in strength and grades.

Ethnicity: Indian

SAT: 2020: Math - 800, Writing - 650, Reading - 570 (yuck)
ACT: 28: 34 in math, 27 in writing, 11/12 for essay, 30 for science, 22 for crit reading (yuck again).

As you can see, my analytical reading skills are horrible, although I am pretty good in math

SATIIs
Math II: 800
Physics: 790
Biology M: 690

AP exams:
AP Calculus BC: 5, AB sub = 5
AP Physics B: 5
AP Biology: 4

I plan to take:
AP Chemistry
AP Physics C, both mech and E+M
AP European History
this year

Our school does not class rank

GPAs (weighted):
Fresh: 3.52
Soph: 3.33
Junior: 4.68
Senior: So far, it looks stronger than my junior year, around 4.8ish right now

Overall: 3.84ish - weighted

-Freshman year I took 1 honors course
-Soph yr I took 1 hns and 1 AP (comp sci A), but got straight Bs
-Junior yr I have greatly improved both in terms of grades and course strength, 3 APs, 2 honors and all As and 1 B
-Senior yr I have 3 APs, 1 beyond AP (multivariable calc) and 2 honors and it's looking like all As and 1 B

My recommendation letters look very strong for both my math and physics teachers as I am one of their strongest students.

My essays have a formal tone, although they don't take any sort of risk as higher level colleges like to see.

EXC activities:

-Doing research at Rutgers Astrophysics Institute, spent half of my summer doing sort of a "training course" and currently doing research this year of high school and submitting reports every 2 months back to Rutgers(research off NASA database)

-Very avid chess player, played in tournaments, play in my free time

-religious camp for 3 years, 2 weeks every year

-Recreational tennis and bowling

-Black belt in Tae-kwon-doe, at 9th grade

Do I have a good shot at Carnegie Mellon or Lehigh? (Cornell is a high reach, I know...)

Edit time expired:

Class: middleish, good family income

Please chance me for Carnegie Mellon, Lehigh, Villanova, NYU, TCNJ, Rutgers and Cornell for engineering. Thanks

I would say no for CMU, NYU and Cornell; probably yes for TCNJ and Rutgers.

You remedy those low reading scores somehow.

In at Rutgers. I think you have a shot at Villanova, Lehigh and TCNJ. They will be tougher, but it wouldn’t suprise me if you got an acceptance from any of these 3. Good luck!

Thanks a lot. I really want to get to either Lehigh or CMU. Any other opinions?

Maybe a bit short for Cornell / CMU (slight reach. They might not pay THAT much attention on reading scores), but probably yes for the rest, since you show genuine talent on mathematical areas.
Also, I would have recommended you to take perhaps AP Stats instead of AP Euro. But I’m sure you had a reason to chose an AP history course

PS: How 'bout AIME? you seem a worthy candidate for that
PS2: Its Tae-Kwon Do. not ‘Doe’ (sry, I am passionate about Tae-Kwon Do)

You said Cornell and CMU are your top choices. I’d put money on you getting into CMU.

Thanks a lot for all of your input. I just wish I took my SATs more seriously…

shameless bump
