Chance me please! Wellesley :)

Hi! I’m a high school senior this year, and I absolutely LOVE Wellesley. I just re-did the net price calculator and it turns out it will be very affordable for me, especially if I can get a job next summer! However, the tough part is getting in. Can someone chance me? This is my very top choice, and I would love to know if you think i have a shot.

-I go to a STEM-oriented public school ranked top 10 in California, and I had to test in to attend.

-4.25 GPA (4.0 sophomore year, 4.6 junior year so there’s some improvement there I guess)
-33 ACT (planning to re-take to get a 34 hopefully)
-7 AP’s: AP Calculus AB (5), AP US History (5), AP Music Theory (super upset because I bombed the sightreading which led to a 4), AP Biology (4), AP Language (4), AP Euro (3), AP Chemistry (3 which is OK for not taking the class)
-Senior year: AP Physics 1, AP Gov/Econ, color guard, AP Psychology, AP Literature, yearbook, AP Calc BC
-SAT 2’s: 770 Math 2, 740 Biology E, and 700 Chemistry (not submitting).

-Top leadership positions in marching band and yearbook
-Secretary of Astronomy club this year/last year, and in NHS and CSF. Also in Mock Trial last year/this year
-Interned under a psychology professor this summer at a graduate university
-Have many awards from playing piano for the last 8 years. Passed advanced CM level with honors.
-Went up to level 5 in vocal CM, but stopped because of money issues

I plan to major in either Biology, Psychology, or Biochem with a minor in music, and I plan to go to med school (which is why I’m ecstatic about the estimated cost since I’m trying to reduce my debt in undergrad for med school).

Thank you!

Regardless of what people say on this site, it’s really not possible to chance anyone about any school, but your stats look similar to many accepted students. Do not apply ED, since you need financial aid, but do apply EE to show your interest. If you do this, in February, you’ll get a letter from Wellesley telling you whether you are likely, possibly, or unlikely to be accepted. The Why Wellesley essay will be critical, and try to get an interview. They’re not required, but they absolutely do matter.

I would say your chances are excellent. If it is your top choice, I would recommend you apply early. Definitely sign up for their interview. Good luck!

Regarding applying Early Decision: my children targeted schools that met full financial need, since that made college very affordable for us. We did allow them to apply Early Decision. Obviously we couldn’t compare any offers, but that was not necessary because our full need was being met. If you are happy with the results of the NPC, I personally think it’s okay to apply ED. But definitely discuss this with your parents.

Thank you all very much. I discussed it with my parents and I will be applying EE so I will still be able to compare financial aid packages.

Good luck, I think you look very competitive
