Starting a nnprofit is very unrealistic. We had another poster about two years ago who insisted that he was going to start one. He had no idea of the workload and legalities involved. With all of your other activities, you’ll never have time to do it properly. Better path is to affiliate yourself with an existing organization and get permission to use its name to create and run an activity.

@Wordworker
Thanks for your insight! However, one of my friends who heads a major student-run nonprofit and has started two is willing to walk me through the situation. I understand that it will be very difficult, but it is just a possibility as of now. Thanks anyways. Any thoughts on my chance?

I agree about the nonprofit, also it looks bad if you start a major EC your junior year. I think you will have a chance, try and up your UW GPA to a 3.9, get a 2200 on the SAT and you should have a chance. I recommend applying ED, it will double your chance of getting in if I remember the statistic correctly.

Really random but you shouldn’t have to say stuff like that UPenn is a top 100 school, the people the respond should know enough about the school. Also Stanford seems slightly unrealistic (it is so hard to get in and you have nothing to set you apart).

@artsygirl: Well obviously the OP was talking about his HIGH SCHOOL and how IT is nationally ranked. So maybe you should read what people write instead of pointing out “mistakes” that are really not mistakes on a public forum.

-Bump-Bump-

Bump!!!

just wondering… did you get in?
