I’m not a Cornell student, but I feel that your grades/GPA and extracurriculars are solid.

Hard to tell without your SAT scores.

If you’re going for premed, I would say not to go to Cornell b/c your bio SAT is only 650, which indicates to me that you may have a hard time getting the A in classes to be competitive for med school. I scored 710 on bio SAT, and managed a 3.5-3.6 for math/science classes at top UC.

Cornell seemed to have a reputation for handing out low %'s of A’s in classes. Thus you would spend a lot of time studying. If you go to a decent but yet easier college, you would enjoy your college experience with A’s, accumulating more extracurriculars, and scoring well on the MCAT (since it kind of depends just on your intelligence anyway after enough studying), and becoming overall a much better med school applicant.

You probably won’t get into a big brand-name med school anyway, and everyone only remembers your highest-degree school, so attending Cornell for undergrad would NOT matter. So go to a cheaper, easier school (save $$) and enjoy college with a solid GPA to show for it.

But I know, all high school students think that I’ve worked so hard, I want to go to the best undergrad that I can. I have that mentality until I have to struggle in college classes, and instead wish that I had gone to an alternative decent but easier school.

I’m expecting that with your SAT 2100, you would probably score about 30-33 on MCAT, with GPA of about 3.5-3.7 which would make you a mediocre applicant for med school on paper. But if you keep up your great extracurriculars with leadership in college, you would get into a med school.

Thank you! But with my biology sat I took this while I was taking chemistry (bad idea I know) and with a backround of only really basic biology from honors bio, so I hardly new any of the information on the exam. I think that will change with AP bio, so I think it will change. Thank you so much for your opinion and I will definitely consider this!
