In terms, of improvement, I would say raise your ACT score (but you know that) and take the SAT if that doesn’t work out. You have stellar obj/subj stats otherwise. Rice/NW are definitely matches, WashU is a low reach, and Penn/UChicago/Duke are reaches. Out of curiosity, do you go to Dowling Catholic?

Thanks! And no, actually I go to school in Omaha, but I live in Iowa. Btw, clearly I’m really into forensics too! haha

Can anyone else chance me?

-Penn Reach
-Duke Mid-Reach
-WashU High Match/Low Reach
-UChicago Mid-Reach, but really with UChig it’s about the essays
-Rice (legacy) - In
-Northwestern (legacy) - In

I think your ACT score is perfectly fine actually.

Chance me back?

thanks! and as for legacy, my cousin currently attends Rice and my sister is graduating form NW this year. i hope that counts as legacy.

can anyone else help me out?

Wash U, Duke, U Chicago and Northwestern with midpoint SAT scores ~2170 and admit rates between 14-19% are just about equal in terms of difficulty of admission for which, based on stats, you would likely be considered a high match/low reach. Penn is only one step higher, and Rice is only one step lower. So your odds for all of these schools are not terribly different. You are just going to have to wait it out a few more weeks and see what happens… Good luck.

thanks. is there anywhere on my resume where you think i should improve? (other than test scores)

Sorry, didnt pay careful attention, thought you had already applied.

Here’s my advice…

At this stage it would be difficult to add to, create, begin an EC or volunteer effort thats going to make a significant difference between now and when you apply in 8-9 months.

So I would suggest two courses of action…

(1) Continue to demostrate your competence and character and spend time speaking, corresponding, meeting with the teachers, GC’s, etc. that will be writing your letters of recommendation.

(2) Take a writing class at your local college. Start working on your college essays and your college essay writing skills now. Essays are the most underated portion of your application on CC, and likely one of the most important to your chances for success.

Penn- low reach
-Duke - low reach
-WashU - in
-UChicago - match
-Rice (legacy) - in
-Northwestern (legacy) - in

best of luck.

chance back
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1085896-insert-attractive-interesting-title-here-promise-chance-you-back-3.html</a></p>

Match at WashU, Rice and Duke. Low reach for Duke and Penn.

Chance me?? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1085617-final-chance-thread-because-i-know-gets-annoying.html</a></p>

Ivies are always reaches, so Penn is definatly so. Otherwise, I would say U Chicago and Duke are low to mid reaches, with being in at Rice and Northwestern. I think Washington U is a high match for you. Good luck.

Chance me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1072869-what-do-you-think-my-chances.html</a></p>

-Penn- reach
-Duke- ?
-WashU- decent shot
-UChicago- decent shot
-Rice (legacy)- good chance
-Northwestern (legacy)- good chance
I think you have a chance definately at all schools with duke and penn probably the biggest reach out of them all to get in to. Good luck to you. Can you please chance me back?? Chances- PITT
Thanks. It is on page 2 i think.

can anyone else help me?

Penn is high reach, UChicago and Duke are mid reaches. You’re definitely in at Rice, and I’d say Northwestern is a low reach, they don’t consider legacies much.

thank you!

-Penn: Reach
-Duke: Reach
-WashU: Low reach/Match
-UChicago: Low reach
-Rice: Match
-Northwestern: Match

You have a pretty good GPA. It would be nice if you can get your ACTs up for Duke and Penn, but nonetheless that score isn’t bad at all. See if you can get farther with your research.

Sorry for the late chance! Good luck!

thanks for your help!
