Thank you soooo much!!!

bump…bump…bump!!!

Also, if people could give me a suggested list of safety schools I would have a shot at getting a full scholarship in, that would be great! I don’t think my family can really afford a super expensive school. I hope to get a full ride to UMD, but it would be great if people could suggest similar schools.

Hey, thanks for chancing me!

You look like a really strong applicant. Your GPA, SAT scores are great, there will be nothing but a boost there (plus class rank as 1 or 2 will make every college take a closer look at you). Your EC’s look really, really good, especially your medical stuff. Winning a regional science fair and interning at NiH looks pretty great. I would emphasize that stuff, because you’re pretty qualified from that standpoint. Volunteering will help too

I’ll go backwards
Penn State - Safety
UNC - Safety
U of Maryland, both - Safeties
NWU - Match
JHU - Match
U Chicago - If Econ, probably High Match
UVA - I want to say safety, but Low Match at least.
CMU: Low Match/Match
Duke: High Match/Low Reach
NYU: Safety
Dartmouth: Low Reach
Brown: Low Reach
Yale: Reach
Cornell: High Match
Columbia: High Match/Low Reach
Upenn: High Match/Low Reach

With the Ivy’s, its always a crapshoot, but I think you have a >50% chance every where else. Write solid essays, and you’ll probably get into at least 2/5 of Brown, Upenn, Columbia, Cornell, and Duke (I know its not an Ivy but its pretty hard to get in). As for Yale, I think you have a better chance than most applicants, probably around 20%, but you never know with HYPSM.

I agree that your extracurriculars are really strong, particularly if you’re going into biology. Somewhat less so if you only want economics, since your extracurriculars aren’t really focused there. GPA and academic stats should be fine - well within higher range of almost all of the universities you mentioned.

btw what are high/low reach? and high/low match? :D

Yale - harder reach (it’s yale… :P)
UChicago, JHU - mid-reach
UPenn, Duke, Dartmouth, Columbia, Brown, Cornell - easier reach
NYU, UMDs - match
everything else - safety

chance please  http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1514260-general-chance-please-d.html#post16039965

Many people from my school go to UVA each year (in-state) and they have similar stats as you. I would say you havr a pretty good shot of getting there and a few others. I’m not sure about UChicago though.

University of Pennsylvania: definitely would not say a safety (it isn’t a safety for ANYONE, regardless of stats) but it’s definitely a high match for you

Columbia University: A bit of a reach (simply because admissions are holistic and very unpredictable)

Cornell University: High Match/Low Reach

Yale University: Reach (pretty standard)

Brown University: High Match/Low Reach

Dartmouth: High Match/Low Reach

New York University: Very low reach/almost a safety

Duke University: High match

Carnegie Mellon University: High Match/Low Reach

University of Virginia: Very Low Reach/Almost safety

University of Chicago: Very low reach/almost safety

Johns Hopkins University: Very low reach

Northwestern University: Very low reach

University of Maryland: Safety

University of Maryland-Baltimore County: Safety

University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill): Safety

Penn State: Safety

Chance me back?
