Chance Me Please(Will Chance back upon request)

Do I have any chance?!!

I hate these kind of threads but I just have to know because after reading others, looking at their SAT scores, I am SOO frustrated. I’m feeling like i really have no chance; AT ALL…

I really love Boston University & I mentioned that in my application. But i think my chances are even slimmer because this year is supposed to be the record breaking year for number of applicants, which is extremely scary!

I participated in a good number of Extra-curricular activities such as National Honor society, Science club, Chess Club, Computer Club, Asian-American Club, Peer Tutoring as well as Soccer.

I was the vice-president of Computer Club and at vice-president at a Local Temple where I thought little kids. I also volunteered at Local Food Pantries, Hunger relief organizations and some other food programs.

I have been working in a youth program since the summer of 2007. There I have been Team-Captain, Crew-Leader and I did fair amount of Public speaking.

I have been All quarter honor roll student, Got nominated for Congressional Student Leadership Program and been nominated for Posse Scholarship.

I am a South-Asian male, have been in the US for two years and have some problem with English. My SAT score is not very good. Cr-490, Math- 540 and Writing- 530. My Toefl score is 91 out of 120. But fortunately I have good GPA- 4.21(unweighted) 3.72(weighted). Rank 7 out of 317 students. Taking 2 AP classes. According to my teachers, I have good essays. But I am really worried about my essay.

I applied to BU, BC, Tufts, NorthEastern, Umass Boston, Mass college of Pharmacy, WPI, Holy Cross. I was wondering if being in the US and being minority will help me somehow.

Thanks for taking you time to read this and any answer would numb down my worries!(Although I know that I will probably not get accepted into any of these colleges :frowning: )

As a immigrant myself, I find ACT easier than SAT.
Unless it's too late, why not give ACT a chance?

Just wanted to throw it out there :D

I'll go ahead and say no to : BU, BC, Tufts, Northeastern, and WPI.

You'll get into UMass Boston, Pharmacy, and Holy Cross.

Your SAT's are just too low for those reaches.

With your high class rank you should be applying to all the top colleges that are SAT optional besides Holy Cross and WPI (both of which are SAT optional and which you will get into).

is this a joke? because my post starts like that and my SAT's were around that number range. except i got a 1650. Anyway, if it isn't I think you have a good chance at Holy Cross. The other's is really up to what your other application materials were & if they were strong or not.

lol 540 for math? thats kinda low because Math is hardly anything related to English.

take this post down! That's not funny to be messing around with people like that. get a life.

Ah... I don't think being a south-east Asian male actually counts as an Under Represented Minority...

To Superwoman------

I don't know what is wrong with you but just for your info BU doesn't care about SAT that much. And if you don't know how to be nice to other ppl, I would say don't reply to their threads and GET A LIFE YOURSELF. **** *

sorry, i thought u were making front of me because of my low scores, its not common these for any person of asian descent to score that low, i just never heard of it no offense. so my accusations were well within reason. Also i wrote that like 15 days ago if u really cared u wouldnt respond now. its too late! hahaha

i think you have a bit of a better chance than some people are saying because of your class rank.

I agree with ll0124. Your SAT scores are a bit low, but your rank is really good and you have a lot of extra-curriculars. Oh and NHS. I think that looks really good.

Being from California doesn't help either.

What type of courses do you take? Honors/AP?
