Please Chance, I will chance back if you leave a link. Thank you in advance for any feedback/comments!

Super rigorous schedule (I wish I could take all those math courses), good EC’s that show your interest in STEM. You’re solid for all those schools. How are you on your essays?

[My thread, if you don’t mind reading.](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1196143-chance-rising-senior-non-hypsm-schools-suggest-matches-safeties.html)

I think you have a great chance at them all!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1198796-chance-me-please.html</a></p>

You asian people are amazing

Bah, why are you so smart…

I’d bet money on you getting into UPenn. Even if you didn’t somehow, you’d probably still get in UVA, UMich and UChicago. Destroy your essays and you’ll be fine. Good Luck!

Thanks for the input guys.

I’m working on my essays right now. Unfortunately my commonapp essay is at 1000 words >< , so I’m cutting it down right now haha

With your great test scores and super rigorous schedule, you will almost certainly get in at UPenn, especially early decision.

Great chances at UVA and Michigan

Asian male without national/international recognition
Typical Stat and course rigor for top Asian applicants

UPenn: Reach
Chicago: Reach

Being an Asian male is a bigger anti-hook than you think.

Work on your essays and apply to more colleges.

You have really great chances, but you need to write something incredible to be accepted because you are Asian (which is unfortunately going to hurt you at top schools)

Good luck
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1196782-chances-brown-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I’d say good chance at UPenn. I don’t think being an Asian male will hurt you as much as people think, if at all; after all, Penn is 51% women, and only 24% Asian. I don’t know about UChicago, they’re weird, but Michigan and UVA are definitely good chances too.

And, like others have said, your course load is ridiculous. How the ***** were you taking Calc as a freshman? Also, fantastic scores, tons of APs, great GPA. The only place I’d say you’re kinda weak is in EC’s (do you do any sports?), but then you have those research internships… Provided you can write, you’ll probably go anywhere you want, of the schools you listed.

20more is a bit more cynical about college admissions for Asian Americans. But one does need a higher level of accomplishment to be on the same plane. Well your main problem is your gpa. Unless you’re in the top 1% (which may be the case depending on the difficulty of your school), it’s gonna be tough for you because you will be competing with mostly 4.0s for M&T. Also, leadership is pretty important and you don’t readily show that nor do you have service. But I’ve found that M&T can be really random and ED can boost a fair amount so that’s a positive. You should be fine for UVA and U Mich, Chicago still a low reach. Good luck on essays.

“I don’t think being an Asian male will hurt you as much as people think”

Yes, it does!
You will see on March 30th of 2012.

Don’t worry, I know that being asian isn’t exactly the best thing when it comes to college apps. Thanks for all the honest feedback, I really appreciate it

You’re doing excellent all around. I think UVA and Michigan you’re near guaranteed. UPenn is naturally harder but you definitely have a better chance than a good deal of applicants. Chicago is highly individualistic. You’re definitely in range transcript-wise, but your essay there would be of the utmost importance. I wouldn’t focus that much on Chicago, though: it’s my first choice and there are no engineering majors, so for you it may not be the best choice (based on your desired degree at UPenn). Obviously if you would rather go for business, Chicago would be just fine.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1199962-chances-university-chicago.html</a></p>

Yeah Penn seriously gives you a huge boost for applying ED. I think the acceptance numbers jump to around 33% for ED applicants with most likely a more intense pool though. Your classes and scores are obviously great, but I think EC wise you might be lacking a little bit. The problem is they reject really qualified applicants all the time, and sometimes it’s a little harder from smart states like virginia instead of states like mine, tennessee. of course we’re both asians (I’m indian) so that sucks too… Anyways, I think your chances are Penn are great, I would say target for sure. Uchicago is a low reach, because they often look for the really well-rounded applicants, and you’ll get into UVA and Umich hopefully with good money especially to UVA.

chance me back please!

Like everyone else said, super great rigor in your schedule! It’s exactly what schools are looking for. Your scores are right on par, as well. The absolutely only aspect of your app, so far, that might be not so positive is your ECs, or your lack of ECs, really. Don’t get me wrong, your research and everything is great, but you gotta make yourself shine!
