I have a 2170 superscored sat (660 CR, 790 M, 720 W), a 34 ACT and a 3.8 GPA. My extracurriculars are good- co-president of one club, vice president of another, and have been on the track team for 3 years. i do a lot of activities outside of school.

I am planning to go into environmental or marine science or civil or environmental engineering, though i am not sure and may change my mind completely.

Unfortunately, my SAT 2's are less than desirable- 670 in physics and biology m, 710 on math2 and 720 on math 1. would these hurt my chances?? also, i decided on this track late. my best grades in high school are in math and science but i didnt take electives in these fields until this year.

do you think i have a shot at the science and engineering field??
especially for johns hopkins, northeastern, cornell, rensselaer, uconn, umich, and udelaware?

thanks so much and good luck to everyone!! <3

honey they wont hurt you since the schools you are applying to (maybe except JHU and cornell) usually see applicants with those scores. the 670 physics isn’t flattering for the selective ones – JHU and cornell – esp if you want to do engineering, but it won’t be a make-it-or-break-it thing. good luck!

John Hopkins and Cornell may be your two reach schools. You may have a chance for JHU and Cornell but your extracurricular activities don’t look too appealing. However, you still have a chance! I’m sure you’re set for the other ones.

I don’t recommend sending in the Physics score. The math scores are good! I would send those two in because you haven’t taken any electives in math/science so this will add a little bit more to your interest.

Once again, Good Luck! Wish you all the best.
