I will be applying for financial aid, can you chance me for HYPSM?

yes, as good as anyone really. I’d put you at 60/40 to get into one of the HYPSM, and 40/60 to get into two.
.

Re: Financial Aid – I am not CNDN, so have no idea which of the Ivies is need blind wrt int’ls. Have a look at schools ranked in the 15-30 range that offer Merit Aid. You might get a free ride somewhere (like Vandy).

Thanks. and yeah, I know. I wish I had a 2400 <<’
I’m re-taking the SATs in jan though. I don’t know how I got 700 CR -sobs-.
Any suggestions on how/ what I can possibly improve?
Grades are really, really hard to get at my school. I had a physics teacher tell us, first day: “only one person will get a 90. and that’s 9-0. I don’t give out marks higher than that”.
This class has been dragging down my average (I have an 89…), and I can’t drop it because I want to go into either science or business (can’t make up my mind).
What should I do?
In Canada, 80-90 is A and 90+ is A+.

You have a GREAT shot. You should really focus on your non-profit when you’re filling out your apps - colleges like to see a concise application. Oh, and also try to play up that you’re an “international student” lol. Maybe if French is the primary language of your family then say that…

Good luck, you’ll get into AT LEAST one of them!

your ECs are REALLY strong.
but like people say, remember that your SAT scores are only a PART of your admission. your resume looks good, and i think that, in your essay, if you can put across what you love and why you love those things really well, then you’ve got a good shot!

I’d put a lot of effort into raising the CR score, it’s the only real weakness I see. If you do that and write a standout essay, you’ll be a strong contender.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the feedback

@2college2college: I have many other weaknesses =p, but I will definitely work hard to improve my CR score >D

@njbarker92: I’m Asian, but I guess the speaking French part could possibly apply. lol.
Also, I completely see where you’re going with the whole “concise application” idea. I’m all over the place, and I really don’t know where my own strengths lie :/

Retook, my SATs, I now have
800 CR/ 800 M/ 760 W

My guidance councillor tells me that my resume is all over the place. And i’m pretty sure she’s right…
Is it too jumbled up and spontaneous?
Is there a way for me to organize it all ? @.@

1) you posted this on my birthday. wee.
2) yes, your resume is all over the place, but at least everything is very strong. If anything, you could just split you ECs into “mathematics achievements,” “arts achievements,” and “other,” because those seem to be the two biggest sections (or whatever you want to call them).
3) why can no one spell counselor?
4) I’m super jealous that Canadians consider anything over an 80 to be an A. Here, it’s 93-100.

Wow, you’re good at everything you do! Haha but actually, I think you have a great shot for all of those top schools. I wouldn’t worry about the SAT reading too much, the 700 is fine and the rest of your stellar application will surely overshadow it.
I’ve also heard that canadians are basically treated the same as anyone else. My Canadian cousin from Calgary is now at MIT, and your stats are even better than his!

You live in Canada & your school offers AP courses in grade 11? :o
Would you mind telling me which ones they are? My school is stupid… maybe I can self-study. :D

wow great EC’s you from vancouver? cuz u sure sound like it haha.
Anyways, I would reallllllyyyy emphasize your non-profit, and perhaps even how you were inspired to start it and how that mind relate to your other interests.

perhaps some of the EC’s don’t NEED to be mentioned? like the detriot car-toon thing?

this is really good though, you’re good at math AND you’re in the arts. all you need now is a great essay to make you sound like a really genuine person to the adcomms.

With that retake of the SAT, you have a 2380 superscore. Nice job!
I would be surprised if you didn’t get into at least one of them. So what if your resume is all over the place, you’re good at everything you do! You definitely have two good groups in the arts and math though. You can show colleges that you are passionate about something you do in your essay.
