My top 2 UCs are
1. Irvine - Business Administration
2. Santa Barbara - Econ/Accounting

GPA: 3.41 Weighted (:[ had a rough sophomore year)
SAT: 2180 (780 Math, 640 CR, 740 Writing)
SAT II: 730 Math II/ 570 Lit (lol)

I have decent ECs, including a job.
Active role in DECA (Association for students interested in business)

I know my GPA is a lot lower than both the schools averages, but im hoping my SAT score offsets it a bit. I wanna know if you guys think i even have a fighting chance. Thanks.

Business Administration is a difficult major to get into at UCI. Your test scores are great, but I think UCs care more about GPA. Seems like a slight reach, but still go for it.

I would definitely go for it. My GPA was a bit higher, but my SAT scores weren’t great. I put Bus Adm as my first choice and u/u as my second. I was admitted as u/u, but bus adm had space for me in june when everyone sent in their SIRs, and i guess a lot of people chose privates over irvine. So DEFINITELY go for it. you’re SAT scores are REALLY good. I don’t know which one UC’s like better (i heard from princeton review that they care about GPA more than test scores) but still go for it! good luck!

Yes you have a decent chance…but I strongly suggest you beef up your chances by doing lots of volunteer work (try to get 150hrs total if possible) and try to get some officer positions in clubs. Make sure to explain your rough sophomore year in your application essay.

i definitely think you have a chance! i would suggest to write an amazing essay tho, so get it edited and edited and edited.
GOOD LUCK, hope you see here soon at uci :)

i agree with questionstory. u have good stats, but make sure u explain what was so rough about your sophomore year.
my friend had less than a 4.0 gpa but high SAT scores and got into all UC’s.
he was receiving a low gpa like 3.2 his freshmen and sophomore year, but got a 5.0 junior year taking all AP classes. He talked about what happened to him during his sophomore year, and how he had changed junior year. his stats were like 3.9 gpa and 1900 on SAT. he attends UC Berkeley right now. but also got into UCLA. his personal statement and EC were a huge help for him.

Check out my stats, it seems pretty similar to yours. 3.53 GPA, 31 ACT which is a 2140 ACT, and some EC’s and leadership and stuff. I think you do have a pretty good chance, but don’t keep your hopes too high.
